Which one would it be?
I know this will be difficult to just choose ONE, but here goes...
Canned soda pop.

Fried food...for me. Or anything with a fake sugar in it such as Splenda.

Cayenne pepper or chipotle pepper. Anything spicey will cause lava butt.

MSG and artificial sweetners really bother my gut, but they did long before I had UC. However, I don't consider either of these to really be "food." There aren't any REAL foods that bothers my UC.

I agree Fruitgirl -- I don't have any issues with real food...well, I love any kind of fruit (especially this time of year!) and I have to limit myself nowadays...ha. I guess you could call it my body's automatic portion control. ;-)

For me, cayenne pepper hands down. Not only am I allergic to it, it tears both my stomach and colon up!

artificial sweeteners always upset my body. I also eat a lot of really spicy foods but I wouldn't while flaring. I am in remission and I eat almost everything, including spicy food, but I still avoid artificial sweeteners

Grains like rice and corn make me have mucus, blood and pain after I eat them. Not sure about
other grains because I only eat white bread lately. I remember even in remission a muesli bar would send me to the toilet.

Dairy is aggravating during flares - I am just finding this out now.
Sucralose et al = a day of D for me, but not necessarily aggravating to my UC - just generally poison, flare or not.
And raw veges now seem to be aggravating during flares.

Not sure. Maybe raw kale. Maybe coffee. Maybe popcorn. Maybe gluten. Or maybe none of the above and it's all just coincidence. Sometimes I just go to HECK with it all, I might as well eat whatever the frack I want and let the chips fall where they may.

I know I'll catch hell for this, but the food that aggravated my symptoms the most when I was flaring was plain steamed spinach. I wanted to eat healthier so I steamed up a bag of spinach and grilled a chicken breast, at a time when I was in symptomatic remission from high dose pred, and kicked off hardcore flare symptoms all over again.

I had a lot of triggers including sugar (even that in fruit), processed meat, alcohol, grains and starches, and raw nuts. Pretty much anything sweet- including pure creamy nutbutter, flared me if more than a couple tablespoons, as did chocolate... i was once SCD but became a paleo guy as I discovered that I did better by eliminating almost all dairy. Did fine on cooked spinach though. It's noteworthy how our responses are all over the map. Without a colon all these issues are gone for me. A few weeks ago, just after surgery I seemed to get more gas on yogurt and dairy but It has been a few weeks and I may try again.

I have too many food triggers to pick just one.
But the one I'll pick is: additives in supplements, because they catch me unawares.
I have a really hard time finding supplements like Pepcid or Pepto-Bismol (or generics of same) that don't have sweeteners which upset my gut, which is the reason I'm taking them duh.
Recently I got a sublingual B12 (rec'd by Pathogen Killer) and I totally forgot to read the label (bought online). Took it for 4 days before figuring out it was causing gas because of the sweetner in it. Weird thing is I could tell some improvement so I quit that one and found one (the only one available) with no additives.
Depressing to read that many "natural" substances do not have to be listed on labels. I think the seaweed stuff they use to make foods thicker creamier is one and there are many others.
I had an iron gut before UC, no allergies, no intolerances.
Now it's the princess and the pea. My gut knows something ain't right, just have to figure out what's causing the problem.

Did I rec a specific brand? Lmk so I don't again. I usually try to stay away from brands as they are always changing their formulas.

PK I don't think you rec. certain brands so not your fault. You said "sublingual" and there aren't too many. Mental lapse that I didn't check ingredients. Truth is almost all supplements have "flavoring" and it's hard to find unadulterated stuff. Thorne brand seems best for me with almost no fillers and no flavoring.
