I've always been curious on a stool test as well... Has anyone just went to their GI for this? Or has anyone had one at a private lab and then taken the results to their GI?

Hi lemonhead,

Would you mind explaining to me in a brief paragraph what it is that your trying/doing? Im trying to find the old posts on here from you but Im just overwhelmed. Also, can you provide some links to where I can get started on reading up about this. Sounds really interesting and would like to read up on the science behind it. I Haven't logged on here in a while so sorry for being late. :)

Just got my credit card statement today and was charged a 75 dollar fee for Dr. Stein. For the life of me, I can not figure what that is for. I have not spoken to him for more than 2 minutes since my original consultation. He calls and leaves me a message on dosage changes and that is it. Confused......

How do you feel Lemon. Are you in (still in Remission) and have you stopped taking humira.

My first consultation was around 20 minutes and I recieved a 200 $ check. Well If this really works for me and he is telling the truth about this therapy then he can have all my money otherwise he is just one of the many avaricious charlatans who I`ve met during the last 5 years.

I feel ok. Better than before the treatment. I still have my days. My first cc bill was 830.00, second 590 plus the 75. I just had to order supplements and that was another 360. It is pretty expensive. I just don't like being charged 75 to have him leave me a voicemail. Not cool.

I think he may pro-rate the time it takes to review the lab work, email a dosage change etc hence the $75 fee... Much like a traditional doctor or even a lawyer/accountant does. After-all he can't really do it for free. It's just that we are not used to paying for this stuff - whereas a doc will bill the insurance company etc. That the frustrating part.

Quick Update:

It seems over time my tolerance to foods is slowly improving... but every so slowly. I've had a few days of terrible eating and the worst has now just been loose stool. Also if I eat say fast food, the next day I awake with the most terrible headache... Either that or the headache(s) are from the treatment itself, but I have a feeling it's from crap food. Anyone else have a headaches during this?

I don't remember the last time I saw blood - and I have not seen much if any mucus in a very long time now as well.

To me it seems to be slowly getting better and better over time, with the odd bad response to food which is now just a single trip with D and then all goes back to normal.

I kinda figured that, but an explanation would be nice. If it is the only charge I get for his service, that would be even better. I have only had 3 dosage changes, so a total of 6 minutes on the phone. Probably 15 minutes looking at my test results. I don't know. Would have been nice to see some warning about the charge.
I had a huge salad last night, and I am totally paying for it today. gassy and bloated. been to the bathroom 4 times, but still doing ok. Haven't had a Humira shot for a while. I think it was the 16th?? So, 2+ weeks. Feel fine. Hoping to hold off on the shot until I have my scope and then we will see what that looks like.

I have some go to foods, that return my system to normal - Canned Tuna, Salmon, Rice Pasta, Eggs, Fruit and Kefir Milk... These have made up the bulk of my diet for a while now and cause me zero issue. In fact if I go for one full day or even two on just these all symptoms completely go away.

It's not exactly what I was looking for - but still... no meds whatsoever. This to me is amazing.

RE: Pencil thin stool - This I have had on occasion as well, but not for a prolonged period. I had this on meds and on SCD and on this treatment (though only for a short time)... At one point it worried me as well, but that was a while ago. Since I try to stay away from a lot of fiber, to bulk things up I use real SCD Legal Yogurt, Kefir Milk and say a meal of 1 cup of Rice Pasta cooled and a can of Tuna and Mayo mixed with it... so Tuna Salad type thing. This always adds bulk. Perhaps you could give this a try and see what happens.

Hi Mark and Lemon, when I started this protocol I was at least having pencil thin, yellowish stool, since somewhere around the switching to powdered tyrosine (I'm not on the protocol anymore for now) I have nothing but smelly diarreah. I don't know what happened. Do you know if the amino acids is bad if you have yeast in your gut or anything? I can't get even a skinny piece of poop to save my life, it's a bummer.

or is diaareah just normal for UC people?

That was my question as well...

And yes Miracles, for 10 years now, unless I am on medication I don't go a day (or even a few hours) without intense D, urgency, blood and mucus which get's more severe over time unless I intervene with biologics or prednisone. That's why I am so shocked that although I can't quite eat whatever the heck I want - it appears as though I no longer need meds to stay in this remission. In fact it appears as this treatment - not meds put me into remission. That's to me is worth every penny so far.

My next GI appointment is July 28'th so it will be very interesting to see what he thinks of this whole thing.

It's different d than being on the amino acid therapy (AA) When I first started the aa therapy I didn't have the uncontrollable diarreah, that was yellow and just going everywhere, but a month and half into it, it was the worst I've ever experienced. I was pooping my pants twice a day and I could not control it whatsoever! The d I have now is more controlled because it's my poop persay, early morning and sometimes during the day. Two totally different diarreahs for sure! Dr. STein it was my body's bile, passing my food to fast.

I have a stool test that should be done in 18 days or so and maybe this will shed some light on the situation if there's anything at all.

But ya know, I didn't like how beverly copped an attitude when I said I was going to give it a break. She's the one I called and cried to about crapping everywhere and lost 9 lbs in two weeks. It was so unbearable and Dr. Stein was like just continue don't change....really???? I'm pretty tough, sorry dude it was so bad I had to stop.

I'm watching the thread for others responses, I know others are trying AA as well, so it's good to read how others are coming along.

Miracles: The 5htp can stimulate the colon,not sure about the tyrosine,but when I started to take this stuff on my own, I was crapping at midnight,I stopped 3 or 4 days into it.
Was only taking 5htp and tyrosine,non of the other stuff.

Yeah, weaning off of that as well. Down from 9 to 4, but don't want to go down anymore until after the c-scope.
