ConquerUC lists clipper in her Profile meds. Bump. perhaps she'll comment.
I'd never heard of it until I just did a search, seems used in Europe more vs. US, as a steroid alternative(?)

Glucocorticoid steroid, often taken with 5-Asa. Both beclometasone and budesonide are used for asthma.

I was prescribed clipper back in 2010 just before I went on holiday to Florida. Unfortunately, it didn't prevent my flare from getting so bad that I was hospitalised for two weeks as soon as I returned to the UK.
Although it didn't do anything for me, it really helped someone else I know with UC and the good thing is you don't get moon face etc and don't have to taper.

The Clipper dissolve mechanism seems similar to US named Entocort which is not systemic (throughout the body) rather going to the colon to dissolve at site.

I took Entocort a few years ago and felt like Supergirl while on it (and no weight gain or moonface), unfortunately nothing changed after going off, same lousy symptoms.

Entocort is systemic if you're on it long enough :)

Yes i took Clipper for 30 days last year, and im on it again now to get out of this current flare. To be honest, i find that it reduces inflammation but you have to use it with something else. Like last year i used it with pred suppositories and isatis cooling (chinese herbs). This time with pred supps and chinese herbs blended by my chinese medicine doctor.

I don't know if it can be effective enough on its own.
As far as side effects go: you get mild moon face in the fourth and final week, also some anxiety in the mornings. But no where near the madness of pred.
