Pred does come with some nuisance side effects, that seem to hit people randomly, and a lot of people fret over those side effects (things like insomnia, acne, increased appetite and with it weight gain, bursts of energy, moonface, and so forth). ... Was this post supposed to be a joke, or just incredibly misinformed? In addition to the "nuisance" side effects, prednisone and all corticosteroids can cause lifelong irreversible damage to the body, like osteoporosis, glaucoma, diabetes, and avascular necrosis. I'm 26 years old and I have bone loss in my spine due to less than a year of prednisone. Steroids definitely have their uses and can be beneficial, but you're 100% wrong that all of the side effects are temporary. It should only be used when other, safer treatments have failed.

When I am in a flare I have the following symptoms, have put them in order of when in a huge flare up.

Urgency 30+ movements a day
Blood sometimes a little stool in it usually just blood
Gas
Abdominal pain
Usually get a hemroids or cracks around my anus through wiping with causes huge discomfort.
Spend a lot of tIme on the toilet
Fear of eating
Exhaustion
Lack of sex drive
Can't leave home without a towel for the seat just in case at least 3 pairs of undies,a spare pair of pants.

But am in remission now and I know this sounds stupid but when I was on pred and salofalk had trouble keeping them in while I was waiting for all my naturopath goodies to get me back in remission I started reading trashy(well I call them trashy as I am reading vampire books and have chewed up 3 to 4 writers so far some of them have 17 books in their series lol)
But the good thing is reading took my mind off how anxious I was while in a flare up so I started reading whilst on the toilet and now I still read while I'm on the toilet. Even though I am in remission and have no blood in stool I still read on the toilet as it keeps me calm and prevents me from pushing too hard. And I get too read lol

Pluot, I don't want to feud with you here. Rather, the literature concerning pred says risk of the following occurs over longterm use of the drug and we are talking years and years of use: osteoporosis, glaucoma, diabetes, and avascular necrosis. That can happen in shorter use in a statically small subset, but that certainly isn't the norm.
