Yeah, you can gain weight during a flareup if your symptoms aren't too bad (4 or less bms a day). Otherwise, wait till your meds kick in (6+ bms a day). It is the same as with a normal person, pile on extra calories to gain weight. I've gained weight a few times during the tail end of a flareup (15-20 pounds over the span of 2-3 months). It takes time, and the weight gain is real slow, like maybe a 1/2 pound a week or so. You just need to keep up with an extra meal, an extra serving, lots of snacks or whatever it is you prefer. Generally, your appetite is going to be limited during a flareup, so you'll likely have to force yourself to eat the extra calories. However, your appetite will continue to return as you heal.
