cured ?

I haven't, but I'm pretty sure my cure will be in the form of death....that cures everything LOL!! Any time now is fine by me!!

soystud, I definitely agree that remission isn't the same as cured. I'm in a darn stable remission, but in no way, shape, or form would I consider myself to be cured. I'm still taking my meds, after all!

And even if someone is in a med-free remission, I don't think that's cured. Maybe if they've gone like 15 years and haven't had a flare, then sure, I think I could call that cured. Again, this is assuming no meds (whether Rx or not) or super strict diets.

I do think that cures for some diseases have been developed, however.

Soystud...isn't it you who doesn't use the word remission as a description for how you're doing? That's my meaning..nothing more. Although, many do use the word cure as a remission.

I used to be very reliant on my allergy medicines. I started on them when I was 6 or 7 and finally stopped them when I was around 19. over that time span, I took allegra D (that was my most consistent med), Flonase, claritin, zyrtec, advair, albuterol, and a few others I can't remember. at the time, they were all prescriptions. I had rhinitis and had a lot of sinus infections. I always went on antibiotics for them because that's what my allergist would give me.

anyway, when I started following a vegan diet after high school, I read about getting off of my allergy medicines to be more pure/chemical free. I started replacing a vitamin C tablet for one of my doses of allegra. I would have my morning allegra dose and then the vit C at night. I did this for a few months and then started two vit C doses a day. I was eventually able to get off my allergy meds all together.

I was really excited about this because my allergies were really terrible. obviously, i'd rather have my allergy problems instead of UC ones, but I don't get to chose haha

so that would count as you curing yourself then, right bgirl ?

There is only one " CURE" for UC...Surgery...We have all read the "cure" stories..Now if I could go into remission till the day I die I have no problem with people claiming I was cured. I am also sure some people feel they were cured who might have been DX wrong to begin with. And Yes I suppose if some people can have their cancer disappear w/o meds I guess the same possibilty exits for a confirmed UC case. But I never saw it, which doesn't mean it didn't happen. Rod

I think I can say I'm in remission or symptom-free at the moment. I still depend on drugs. I do believe however that you can achieve remission in many different ways, depending on what type of UC they have. But it's not cured, only remission. Once the given situation changes they can go into a flare again.

I won't say cured in any way but have no problem now saying VERY, VERY "controlled". Here are the six month results of this Amino Acid Balancing Therapy:

If I follow SCD/Paleo/Rice Pasta kinda diet along with this Amino Acid Therapy:
(Symptoms)
• Generally very good
• 2-3 formed bowel movements per day (sometimes more sometimes less)
• No Blood
• No Visible or Very Minor Mucus
• No urgency

Add Wheat or Processed Food:
• An increase in a.m. bowel movements
• Usually a bout of afternoon D
• Trace blood
• Mucus
• The difference is the above symptoms by adding wheat and/or processed foods are actually tolerable compared to what it was like before this treatment, or I don’t feel like I did before taking this treatment. I can get through the next day without too much issue. So this is still a little shocking to me. I have basically excepted that I can survive a family gathering or dinner out but the next day is going to be not so great. Also I have on occasion had some fast food without any issue the next day - to much though and things go wonky, like a tipping point or something...

In any case I’m doing quite well.

The results for me are better than any Biologic or med I have taken in the past. Although diet dependent, there's no way I'll stop this therapy at this point. In fact I'm going to invest in two more urine analysis over the the next few weeks and see if I can get it so I can get even better results.


Also I seem to be able to drink milk and have the odd ice cream, sugary snack type thing (like a pecan tart) without any effects though I rarely do this.

That's exactly how I was looking at it. I was responded to another email from another member as we were talking about just how much appreciation there is now to just be able to go and do things without concern, pain or urgency. I honestly forgot what it was like to be able to have a somewhat or highly normal life...

My eyes watered a bit because I was so happy about this when I was explaining it to a lady recently. People really do take this for granted. Just to be able to get up and go and do and enjoy things. Even just spending the day sitting down by the river, or going for a walk... or visiting with family and friends. I didn't realize just how much this crohn's-colitis thing negatively effected my life in general. Now there's times (even days) when I actually forget anything is even wrong.

So for me, getting my life back was worth every last little penny of this treatment. Not to mention the whole med free aspect as well.. it boggles my mind..

I just hope in time it can help others the way it did me.
