Good point garylouisville.
A guy with UC, Resistant Starch? Green bananas, Navy beans? What else do you eat for that - sounds like I need to get on that. Would love a soda right now.
Paleo and probiotics worked - I used to put down a flare simply by eating salmon for breakfast salmon for lunch salmon for dinner - within a week all that anti-inflammatory fish would suppress a flare.
Now I find it hard to do that.
RS is easy. First time I got a lot of gas from beans. Supposedly the flora will improve. I stopped the RS working with my GP on lingering anemia which I also no longer have. Anyway I found out the hard way you cannot hop back onto RS just because you need to. RS requires normal transit time so the resistant starch can ferrment in the colon into butyrate. So I had to go back on prednisone. Within a week I had my transit time under control by using librax, immodium etc. No gas this time, different flora but also taking 2 probiotics. Once I was eating beans I again I just stayed on the prednisone because I get so much done. But it is very unhealthy so I tapered off and need to not get off RS again to avoid ever going on prednisone again.
I posted a lot when it allowed me to dramatically drop pred and taper quickly. This go-around I took my time coming down and want another 2 year remission like I had 2010-2012. I really expect to go longer with RS.
