Remicade may not be failing I could have IBS Too!

I spoke with my doc about diet and how it has helped me. He said that my blood work showed not signs of inflammation so it may not be that the Remicade is failing but that I have IBS too. Wow I am not sure what to think??????

I think it's a lot of bull. They tried telling me this same bullshiit. One day you have UC and no IBS, the next day you have no UC but now out of the clear blue sky you have just come down with IBS. What a crock. They make this crap up as they go along. The Remicade is failing. Sometime in the future you will have inflammation again.

I agree with you. I have never had any signs of IBS before. I plan on seeing how my current eating plan continually heals over the months. So far its gone very well, then regardless of what the doc says, I am going to tell him that I want off of the Remicade. I think he said this so he could still keep his idea that diet won't help my UC.

Do you take any other meds in addition to your UC? The reason I ask is because I thought Remi was failing me too. I even had the IFX test to check to see how I was metabolizing it. Turned out my numbers were perfect and it was my Colazal all along causing me issues.

No I took no other meds for my UC.

that's exactly what i was thinking. i wish the doctors and drug companies were more up to date about how the very same drugs meant to help us with UC can actually exacerbate the symptoms. While the percentages are low, some people (myself included) actually get worse with mesalamine medicines...

Can't really tell unless a scope was done at the time of the issue. Which can cause more problems. So that's the catch 22.

I have both, and have finally found the difference between the two. We've heard of people developing IBS on here, so it happens.

What's your diet exactly?

Gaps/SCD diet. How can you tell the difference between the two?

Usually with me I can have awful, sharp gas pains right before and during a movement and it's gone immediately after. To the point of almost wanting to catch my breath.
Not so much with UC. Both depends on food also. Stress is a major issue with my UC and I can see problems within a few days after a stressful/emotional day/week.

I'm in a constipation then loose stool IBS stage right now. Pain in the arse and I can't quite find the right balance.
