Those who ever got C.diff, how did you fix it?

Can't answer your question but I highly believe that taking probiotics will decrease your chances of getting c-diff. I think it is better to cut it off at the pass instead of letting yourself get it and then wonder how to fight it after you have already got it.

I've had it twice in the past 6 months. I must've been exposed to the bacteria at one during my colonoscopies or flex sigs. The first time I took antibiotics and about half way through the course I started feeling extreme flare symptoms that came on WAY faster than usual and it also gave me much more intense gas, pain and a distended stomach. I called my GI and begged for prednisone thinking it was a gnarly flare, he insisted that I get checked for cdiff and I did and he gave me a 14-day course of Flagyl. Within a few days most of the symptoms subsided but unfortunately it spawned a UC flare which I had to do a 40mg pred taper after the flagyl. After that I learned the difference between the two. With cdiff there was a huge intensity to it very fast and it gave me wayyy more gas and pain also an intense tenderness to my stomach. Oddly enough my gas and bm smells different when I'm in remission and when I'm flaring but this smelled even different than both of those.


Fast forward a few months.

I was in a horrific motorcycle accident and during my second surgery they gave me a very small amount of antibiotics (during the first one they coupled the regular antibiotics with flagyl intravenously, because of my cdiff history) and no flagyl this time. Well within 3 days of surgery that severe gas, pain, tenderness and bloated belly came back and I knew exactly what it was. I was put on flagyl and within a week felt better, I also did 2 FMT's with my wife as a donor. I'm not joking when I say the very next day after the first one I felt brand new. However, within that week I lost 10 lbs and was severely dehydrated and went to the ER, where they tested me for cdiff and it came back negative. They left me on flagyl for 7 more days and put me on another 40mg pred taper. I spent 3 days in the hospital and that was about 2 weeks ago. Currently I'm on 30mg of pred and should start remicade pretty soon.

I will say this, cdiff is no bullcrap and it hurts like hell. So for me I know the signs but anyone who gets on antibiotics and starts getting symptoms should get checked quick. When it comes it comes hard.

I had an undiagnosed gut infection and Cipro and Flagyl made a world of difference. It took about 10 days and it cleared up 90% of my issues. I'm still in a small flare but no where near the 30bms per day I had prior to the antibiotics.

im on day 4 of flagyl and things just keep getting worse. I'm really worried I just can't live this way anymore. Cdiff and UC together are just too much for me to bear, it feels like someone is pulling my intestines out slowly and beating them with a hammer and the blood loss is beyond serious, I'm hemorrhaging now. Please make this stop

Beatuc, you should be switched to vancomycin! It was like night and day for me. Flagyl = 25 painful bloody diarrhea and vanco = 4 crampy less bloody hard stools.

Got it after I had a baby and was put on abx. Did another round of abx that did not eradicate it.

Eradicated it with a 6 week cycle of
Epsom salt flushes, oil of oregano, a CRAP TON of digestive and proteolytic enzymes, betaine hcl to increase stomach acidity and spore forming probiotics.. Ie bacillius coagulans, prescript assist and lots of Lactobacillius sp.

and being a clean freak. I steam cleaned the bathroom every other day and used copius amounts of bleach.
