6mp

I am currently taking 25 mg of 6mp & my blood test has been coming back with my kidney not functioning normal. Has anyone else had this problem or with any other meds that you are taking.  Thanks for any info you may have.

Are you taking anything else with 6mp? I've had elevated liver enzymes from 6mp but never any kidney issues that showed up in my blood work. I get a CBC and a hepatic panel as my regular 6mp blood work. I get kidneys checked less often due to being on Lialda but everything has always come back normal.

I was on 6mp for about 5 years. I've never had this affect my kidney function.

I'm curious...when was the last time you had a colonoscopy? Sometimes the prep we take can affect our kidneys.

No, I don't believe that could affect the kidneys....the liver perhaps. When I was on 6mp, I would also have a few drinks here or there. It never affected neither my kidneys nor my liver.

But just as a side note. I had a colonoscopy and I did the Osmoprep pills. about a year later my kidneys were affected. My overall levels were fine but I was having microscopic blood in my urine. I had a cystoscope of the bladder but my bladder was fine, so I think the blood was coming from my kidneys. It lasted for about 6 months and I was monitored closely. Luckily it has resolved.

I'm not saying that your kidney issues is from your last prep but its a possibility. Also, UC itself can cause kidney issues. There's a name for it but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called. Do a Google search for UC and kidney related issues.
