Hello,

I just joined this forum today. I needed a place where I could get advice from people going through what I am experiencing.

I was diagnosed with uc in 2012 and have taken many of the meds that I have seen listed in some of the posts. Nothing was working for me. I'm taking apriso & started humira in July and I'm still having flare ups. I think it's time to modify my diet and get back into a workout routine.

As a newbie, I have many questions and concerns. One question that I have is...is anyone on humira and been pregnant? Very concerned about not being able to expand my family because of this med. I have other questions, but I don't want to get out of control on my first post.

Thanks for listening. Any advice is appreciated!

Humira is ok during pregnancy. Go to infantrisk.org to learn more about the drugs we are prescribed, and how they are rated for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Most GIs want you to be in a good remission before getting pregnant. about 1/3 of people with IBD will flare during pregnancy, 1/3 will get better and 1/3 will have no change. It is better if you start from a position of a healthy remission, which it sounds like you are having difficulty achieving.

The Specific Carbohydrate Diet might be something to consider. I adopted a gluten free diet and it helped a lot. Have you used rectal meds? These are often the secret to getting UC into remission since it seems to start and stay in the rectum. Oral meds like apriso will not treat rectal inflammation.

I have tried suspension enemas. They didn't work for me. My entire colon is joining in on this experience, unfortunately.

My dr told me not to try for a baby until my uc is controlled. That is very important to know.

Have to look in to the specific carb diet. Very interesting.

I have been on Natren Trinity Probiotics for about 4 years or so and it has healed up my UC.  My doctor was amazed that I had moderate to severe UC and I am now like I have IBS.  I have had UC for 27 years...since I was 15.  I tried many different products with this one only working for me.  It started working for me within days and then slowly heals over time.

I tried the scd and it worked great, now I was slipping off and now I am worse than ever, which is not due to the diet! I would give it or the paleo a go! Humra is a last resort no?

Srb1971, I tried natren trenev trio that was only sold by my old dr. I don't know if that helped me or not. Is natren trinity sold online? I may have to try it. I currently take cuturell.

Paleo might be an interesting diet to try. My dr recommended humira because nothing was getting me to remission. He told me that he would recommend it, or remicade, instead of trying other meds on patients. I guess times are changing.

You can buy online. I just ordered from wildearchmarket.com. It is one of the cheaper sites that ships with ice packs and also sends to Canada. Most will not send Natren to Canada. (expensive is stores in Canada) They changed shipping methods as they changed company names recently. Hopefully it does not take to long to get here. If you are in the USA, then there are quite a few site that charge about $70 for 60 capsules. You take one a day. One of the best probiotics on the market. Good probiotics work much better than any drugs as drugs just mask the symptoms and don't heal.

I have had UC since 16 now 37 and started probiotics 3 years ago( Phillips Colon Health ) and since I started them I have had no flare ups! I take a pill daily. I went from having 1-2 flare ups a month to 0 in 3 years!! I told my brother who also has had UC since 18 and he recently had a colonoscopy and his GI Dr told him he had no trace of UC-- he only takes the probiotics every other day!!
