ledaebel, the book didn't go into detail about how they are connected, and there isn't much info out there about sacroiliitis on the web (much more about its big brother, Ankylosing Spondylitis)
My best guess is that it has to do with the large amount of inflammation we deal with in our intestines, which are situated near the sacroiliac joint? But that is just a guess.
(The book, which I find very informative as a fairly new patient, is Crohn's & Colitis - Understanding & Managing IBD by Dr. A. Hillary Steinhart)
Heat and ice are my best friends with the pain. I guess I am fairly lucky in that mine only flares really badly during my menstrual cycle. But when it flares, I am useless. I can't handle anything.
