Update: Blood Clots in Lung/Newly Diagnosed 17-year-old

Are you absolutely sure it might be related to the Remicade? It's hard to diagnose over a forum like this but I have to say that it sure sounds like the first time I started experiencing Shingles. This is only one possibility but Shingles is not something to take lightly. Please read up on the symptoms and be prepared to seek immediate attention if you suspect this could be the cause. Shingles could be brought on by the Remicade and it must be treated immediately. There are very good drugs to stop it in it's tracks but those meds have to be given within the first few days of the outbreak. If you wait too long the drugs will not work and he will be very miserable indeed.

Update: blood clots in right lung. Admitted to hospital.

So sorry he is going through this now but glad you moved on it and caught it. Please let us know how things are going.

Thanks for your good wishes. My first chance to update. Still in hospital in rough shape. Blood thinner to prevent new clots, but he can't have the so-called clot-busting drugs because of UC, too risky. So lung clots must be allowed to reabsorb, which they should do eventually. Excruciating pain while they remain.

The blood clots did not come from a deep-vein thrombosis in his leg(s), as most do. The original clot was somewhere in that poor hurt belly!

The good news of the day: Drs. plan to go ahead w/ 2nd Remicade infusion Thursday. Thank God.
