I guess my thread title is a little wrong. It should technically be fecal injection not fecal transplant.

Oh that made me think of something funny I can't say out of respect for the deceased :(

Wow, they really must have been completely out of options to try something so desperate, but I agree, the patients gave consent, still it did not protect doctors from litigation by the patient's family. Would the experiment have been approved if they asked The University and the FDA for permission? The doctors must have thought it unlikely. It is not in the benefit of science and finding cures when outside the box thinking is punished, on the other hand as a patient I would want some way of making sure no other options are available before trying something so risky. We keep running into the same theme " stimulating the immune system" I hope that is where our cure will be.

I am a fecal transplant believer...if transplanted into the colon. But the brain? How does that make sense?
Desperate people will try almost anything but doctors should not.

I am an absolute believer that there are natural cures for many types of disease including UC but let's see some studies showing safety at the very least. I have been helped by natural stuff much, much more than Rx meds but I try not to go off the deep end into things that harm me. BTW Rx meds have harmed me more than anything else. Who do I sue? (just kidding, never want to get involved with lawyers who end up with the money).

It will be good if those doctors can get a chance to explain a rationale behind 'injecting' these patients. I am sure, there will have some sensible explanation.

Although I trust in fecal transplant completely, Bugs, Bowels and Behavior book was an eye opener for me. There is so much we still don't know.
