Dipentum (olsalazine sodium)?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone here took Dipentum before? Seems like it's discontinued and i couldn't find much info about it.

I asked my doc earlier this year, she was not in favor. Not much better but way more expensive than Sulfasalazine. So started sulfasalazine.

Yes, I took Dipentum for several yrs, 1993-1999. It worked to control inflammation most of that time, but prevented bms from solidifying-- a nuisance. My gastro, who subspecializes in IBD treatment, told me that it was the common situation with Dipentum use. That's why they prefer to Rx the newer 5-ASA oral meds. So-- if Dipentum has in fact been discontinued, there are some valid reasons to drop it. It also was produced in tiny capsules, with multiple doses required daily, so that made it more expensive than other 5-ASAs, besides. / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I took Dipentum probably 20 years ago and it caused horrible skin ulcerations. I heard it had been taken off the market awhile ago.
