Remission!! It has been over 2 months since my son had a series of 5 Fecal Transplants, and he has been in complete remission! He says that he feels completely "Normal". I don't know how long it will last, but right now we are just enjoying this!

he's tapered off the pred obviously..maybe update your signature to also include that he's had FT.
He's still on the URSO, however?

Of course, the weekend is coming..lol...
Please keep us posted as to how your son's doing..

any remission news is good news. I hope it lasts.
I have to wonder if it wasn't c.diff all along. if it was idiopathic UC, then some maintenance plan is advisable. Many people report 2nd flares are worse.
the evidence seems to be that gut microbe dysbiosis is a consequence of autoimmune and not the cause. if this is true, the underlying autoimmune may bring things back to dysbiosis.
but maybe mucosal lining gets a chance to heal and with more luck, nothing else triggers another auto-immune response.

DBwithUC: He was tested several times for C-diff but always came back negative. As for maintenance, we are doing some probiotics and I hope to keep things in check and also additional FT's as a maintenance. I don't know about
the autoimmune causing the microbial imbalance. That's kind of like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg?
LDN should help modulate the immune system and I think its about
time that he start the LDN and stay on it with consistency. We'll see how that goes!

Our daughter who is 17 is currently battling a case of Cdiff as well as a bad UC flare. Our GI is actually discussing FT's with us, but they do not do them at his hospital or anywhere locally that we know of (we are in NJ). If I may ask where did your son have his?
Thanks

electro - I know they will do FT for drug resistant C. diff at Columbia Pres, probably other hospitals in NYC I just happen to know they do them there. Not sure of the process though (the case I heard about
was an inpatient). Good luck

Having trouble finding a place that does FT for kids. So far struck out at Columbia Pres. although they did say they will see if there is anything they can do since she is 17 1/2. Same at Cleveland Clinic.
