A pretty sad picture is painted... especially with the salt.

Maybe Asbestos Salt is responsible for mucus breakdown in some cases OM! Ya never know... haha. Brutal

Yes it is a mess,I worked with the FDA reggs quite a bit in my former life,and the GRAS list is huge.
What they call food today,if processed is just not real good to eat.
I don't like iron fortification either.

This is why the gaps/paleo/scd diets make sense to me.

To go a little deeper, have you ever wondered how & why chemicals... get the green light ?
We would think the EPA, FDA, CDC... has the our safety as the first of everything, that's not the case.
As we all know clever marketing, specialty lobbyist & political pressure are involved in decisions.

One thing the average person has no clue about.
There is a revolving door between our protection agencies & these giant corporations that push all kinds of chemicals, drugs, GMO & vaccines.
One day a director of the CDC, the next day working for Merc, that's the case across the board. And it works in reverse, even more scary.
How can they do this, well... it's not against the law.
The issue is not average employees moving to & fro from government to monsanto... it's that its key people in our government.

I will try to find the list again, it is very shocking.

A month ago I was suddenly aware of how invasive these chemicals are in our diet, our drinks, etc. Before that, I was living in a make believe world. Not normal, IBS like symptoms due to a major colon resection in 1999 and also a gall bladder removal surgery, hence why I have so many posts racked up by now. Once I was diagnosed with meniere's and my ENT doc said since I have a hx of migraines, he suggested I avoid the migraine triggers and maybe my meniere's symptoms would be better controlled (the two are sometimes connected he said). Still with me? What I'm trying to say is this - I am now aware of how harmful artificial (that ONE word should be a major clue shouldn't it?) sweeteners and the like are to the human body.

So once you become aware of something such as aspartame, one enlightenment leads to another.

And somedays I just want to sit in a corner eating only an organic carrot stick and drinking filtered water. But this is NO JOKING MATTER. This is serious. And you want to tell everyone on the planet you know and then you want to tell total strangers in the grocery store, with grocery carts filled with 4 12 packs of Diet Coke (because the grocery store has a deal, 4 for $11!), might I add that person is more often times obese, not to buy these lethal chemical concoctions! But usually I don't do this, only once or twice did I mention what they're buying isn't good for them. But these people often say - ack, I'm going to die someday from something, we're all going to die.

Not sure if percentage is accurate, but doesn't it seem like 90% of the planet is in denial or not informed on this extremely serious topic?

At this rate I'm going to be known as that crazy lady obsessed with telling people about the dangers of aspartame.

But carry on, tell everyone you know, it's enough to drive a person mad.

Until a person can think & learn for themselves...

They will continue to believe their TV news channel, clever marketing...

The people need to understand, others... are not protecting you.

Our generation must be the root of "awareness".

That's nice you include me in your generation but I suspect I'm much older than you! :) 58 here. When I became aware of just one chemical - aspartame - I began sharing this info with my 23 and 26 year old daughters. Who both said - we have been trying to tell you all about these dangers, Monsanto, GMO, eat organically, etc. And I was not paying attention! So I say to them - I'm pinning all of my hopes upon your enlightened generation to turn this around (in other words clean up the mess my generation and those older than me, thank you Donald Rumsfeld for one example, created).

I sure hope something could be done about all of this. You'd think 20/20 would be ALL over this topic.

Support your local farmers market. It's the little guys that will make all the difference for the future generations. When kids as young as five are getting their colons removed and when 1/3 of kids today are going to be hit with diabetes at some point, you know there is a major issue going on with our food supply. These things were unheard of a few hundred years ago. We had different set of issues to deal with like polio, sanitation issues but on the whole, we were stronger and healthier.

The only way we can win is by voting with our wallet. There's just no other discernible way in a capitalist society. Proper education is the biggest enemy to these profit mongering corporations. Just remember that your health is not their first priority, it's the shareholders. From the milk mustache posters to the drug advertisements on tv, these companies invest huge money in making sure that the public continues to stay misinformed. We live in a world where pill popping is the norm, we just never question what that pill is doing to us.

The government can't keep these guys in check because there's a revolving door, as 25years mentioned, between the regulatory organizations like the FDA, CDC and corporations. Next time the FDA approves a drug or regulates an ingredient, just follow the money. The saying "FDA approved" means very little nowadays. It's almost safer to buy from a snake oil salesman. The public essentially becomes the guinea pig and boy, do we pay the price.

Take it from me, it's not that one diet coke you drink or the antibiotic you take that's fatal; it's misinformation. Parents are being force fed the wrong information and their kids are suffering as a result. Just about every autoimmune disease and cancer is on the rise, but hey, we still have wonderful emergency care. We can increase your lifespan by a couple years by keeping you on life support or dialysis.
