What happens to a Rowesa enema?

Does anyone know What happens to a Rowesa enema? I administer one every night and retain it till morning but it never comes back out so where does it go????

Some of the liquid is absorbed into your body (the main function of the colon is to absorb liquid from stool so it is excreted as a solid), while some will be absorbed into your stool. The active ingredient is deposited on the wall of the colon as a topical medication.

Congrats on being able to retain the enemas until they're absorbed!

Thank you so much! I was just diagnosed on Sept 26 and confirmed yesterday. I came in with rectal bleeding for 5 weeks, bloody diarreha, urgency, BM 8-10 times a day started meds on the 26th and now I am down to 2-4 BM's a day, no blood for the last 2 days, and no urgency...feels so good :)

The rowasa fluid goes in white but certainly comes out all muddied up, considering where it goes. I notice my first morning bm, and specifically my first few plops into the bowl, have a lighter tan color to the poop, then the ones that follow and I attribute that to the enema. It only comes out white if you can't hold it for very long.
