Wow to the oregano oil

I have only been on the oregano oil for a few days and quite frankly I was concerned that it would increase my bleeding - not decrease it.

I have been bleeding for months now, without any relief. I have been taking salofalk tablets and even that didn't appear to be helping. I was truly beginning to become a skeptic and then - POW - my bleeding is getting lighter. I actually had normal bm's today without a trace of blood NOT/NADA/NOTHING!!!

Oh please let this be my answer.

What is it that oregano oil does that stopped ur bleeding? was it recommended by a doctor??

It wasn't recommended by a doctor and I thought I would give it a try for my arthritis. Because my diverticular associated colitis is also inflammation, I didn't think it could hurt. I got a little afraid when I read some reports about increased bleeding, but it did just the opposite.

I don't know how this will all work out, but this is the first good thing that has happened (in the rear end department lol) for months.

Yay! congratulations! fingers crossed for you.

ACtually I have read somewhere about oregano oil working for others. I keep forgetting to get some for myself! I have what I guess is considered to be mild colitis (still sucks) and bleeding has aaaalways been my main worse symptom. I am going ot get myself some right now. Can you tell me how and how much you have been taking everyday? and can you recommend the brand that you have?

I take 5 drops on the back of my tongue, immediately followed by a gulp of juice (apple). I do that 3 times a day.
I'm not crazy about the taste, so that covers it up. I bought Joy of the Mountains Wild Mediterranean Oregan Oil (There is Vitamin A in the oregano oil)

I am so impressed. I hope others who have success ring in here, or at least point me to their posts! Good luck, keep me updated ok Maria?

Oregano is a natural antibacterial that's been used for thousands of years. To put it bluntly, it has a better track and safety record than many of the medicines doctors seem to push on the patients here. Please refer to protocolteck's thread here for more information on how and when to take it, it's very informative.

Typically, no doctor is going to recommend this simply because there's no profit involved in it. You have to do your own research and be your own advocate here.

Lealee, don't leave anything to chance. I encourage you to keep tweaking this and figure out why it stopped your bleeding. Maybe it killed some bad bug that was causing your bleeding? You might even benefit more from repopulating with some good bacteria. Hope this continues.

great thank you! I am so excited. I have been trying to go the natural route (medications scare me), so far Ive managed to get away with only suppositories (out of meds), and have recently stopped them. I am now taking L Glutamine, a probiotic, omega 3 tablets, great lakes gelatin (which is WONDERFUL btw as it is very healing and so healthy for the colon), chia seeds (basically just in a glass of water after letting it gel up abit), and if I feel like it, a tbsp of macadamia nut oil and a couple of drops of seabuckthorn oil (in a glass of water as well) daily. I have to say that this is the best I have felt since my diagnosis and although the bleeding is still there, it is very minimal now! Im hoping the oregano oil will be the "missing ingredient" to my list hehe. I also purchased some spirulina powder but have yet to add it to my daily regime, so I will do that soon.

Just wondering how you are doing? any symptoms? what is your diet like? (are you watching what you are eating or are you able to eat pretty much whatever you want sorta thing?)

bleeding is and always been my main worse symptom, Im so ready to NOT see that blood in the toilet, even if its very little (today's wasnt so little :( ) I placed an order online for some oregano oil last night (small town, nowhere to get some in town) so im anxious for it to get in, hoping itll work as well for me as it has for you.

I'm ok (a little bit of blood this morning) - but it doesn't hold a candle to what I was experiencing - so in my opinion I am doing better. Like you, bleeding is and always has been my constant symptom - it IS upsetting isn't it? I do have a great deal of pain when I have a diverticulitis attack and I never know if I'll have D or C. :(

I am really holding out hope for this because it has already shown promise. I can't wait to hear if it works for you too. My bet is it will!

I didn't answer your first question about my diet - sorry - I haven't restricted my diet, except that I go on a liquid diet when I have diverticulitis. The oregano oil is helping me to have some (relatively) nomal bm's too). I will keep this up and hopefully I'll get better before having to radically alter my diet. I'm so new to this it's still a shock.
