Have been in a med-free remission for over 7 years. Got there by following an antifungal program for a time (grain-free, low sugar/carbohydrate) along with natural antifungals and probiotics. For me, I realize now my UC symptoms were fungus/yeast linked. I was a good candidate as I had taken antibiotics as a teen, birth control pills, lived in damp, water-damaged homes. Felt significantly better after 2 weeks on program. Had MAJOR fungal die-off so was miserable for the first week or so. I am now also gluten-free and try to limit processed foods. No glimmer of symptoms since.
kim, Im pretty certain that mine was caused by the overuse of antibiotics. When I was pregnant a few years ago, I was put on antibiotics 4 times and then right after pregnancy, I ended up with bronchitis, sure enoughm antibiotics again. Not once in my lifetime was I ever told by any doctor that I when we go on antibiotics, we should be taking a probiotic as well! So, shortyl after my pregnancy, I started having some bleeding. I of course assumed (and was told by a doc) that it was jut post-pregnancy hemmoroids and was given a cream for it. Fast forward a couple of months, weird white tissue starts to show up in the toilet, and me being ignorant, brushed it off for a year until finally, I saw the first tinge of blood after eating carelessly (the way I always did) and rushed myself to the hospital and was diagnosed with UC shortly after.
Just curious, when you say you had major fungal die off and was miserable, how exactly were u feeling when u were miserable? Im pretty sure it may be what I am experiencing. What was your diet like during the time u were following an anti-fungal program? What do you mean by natural anti-fungals? I would love to find out more from you. Right now Im eating alot of organic meat, some veggies (cucumber/zucchini, onions) and some fish. Im so bored of this diet and am so anxious to be able to start incorporating more into my diet!
