But cancer is uncontrollable cell growth. What does that have to do with the immune system?Our immune systems kill cancer cells frequently. Cells get damaged from things like radiation, chemicals, etc. When they don't function properly they need to be taken out of service by our immune system. Malignant tumors grow faster than the body can destroy them. If the immune system responds more slowly than usual, that increases the odds of that cancer cells can grow into a tumor.
