Remember, if you're taking any immuno-suppressive drugs, you have an increased risk for cancer. So be careful about smoking / vaporizing as this can stress your lung tissue.

From what I've read on here so far, people find this helps to cope with symptoms, but doesn't actually improve inflammation. I don't see any references to research that supports reduction of inflammation either.

I wouldn't worry about "stressing your lung tissue". Clearly if you're chugging huge plumes of smoke, you're not gonna help much except getting really high. But, if you can control yourself, just take small tokes. Or better yet, vaporize it.

As far as cigarettes. I've only taken a drag here and there of friends' cigs and it helps the same way pot does, to some extent. I am NOT a frequent enough user to say this will be true for everyone, but they're a great stress reliever. I am a regular pot user, partially due to my "addiction"(not actually, but might seem like it) but also because it helps me not worry about the potentials involved with UC (not finding bathroom, etc)

I actually feel my long term adolescent use of marijuana brownies led to my birth of UC...

An indica THC enema would probably put a flare to sleep as well as get you really baked.

I posted a few weeks ago on the CD forum about having a suspected recto-vaginal fistula (sorry men) I' started passing gas through the vagina and have been so freaked out and in excruciating pain in my rectum and anus (with my perianal crohn's skin tags) and my vagina as well. My poops have been ridiculously hard to get out regardless of the firmness...I've been having to use stool softeners here and there, barley eating (lost some weight) can't get into see my GI until dec 2 unless I pass stool through my V then I'm suppose to go to the ER.

Like I said, the pain is enough to seriously make me want to die, it's been awful I've also been doing at least 2 sitz baths with Epsom salts as well...I finally broke down and tried mj (I will be asking my GI to help me get RX for it) it's taken the pain away and after I use it I barely have any urges to poop....I hate the feeling in my head from it and I only do a very tiny amount 2x/day and the way it helps with my severe pain has been incredible...I wait until I've gone poop a few times in the morning before I have any of it (super tiny amount) early in the afternoon and then again until bed...I'm going to try eating it cooked/baked in food, I've heard that way still helps the body but doesn't affect the mind...which is exactly what I want.

I cannot handle the pain and the fear of this DD anymore, I'm glad I found something to get me through until I see my GI....I really hope this will be the answer for me finally, I've been sick for too long and just can't bear it anymore.

There was a study done on mj and crohn's 5 out of the 11 patients that were directed to smoke 2 joints a day went into full remission after 8 weeks, the rest all noted some major improvements with it, the placebo group didn't get any benefit lol. It makes me really tired though, but I'll live with that over the excruciating pain any day.

I am sorry to hear you've been in such awful pain too pb4. That's the worst. I am thankful that mj has helped you. I can't imagine how terrible a fistula must be. I complain about my fissures but it seems like they are nothing compared. I hope you're okay until your GI appt.

It's been a rough go since around September 9th that I started noticing I was passing gas through the v, Red, I can't see my GI until Dec 2 to confirm it's a fistula but I'm unsure of anything else that can cause intestinal gas passing through the v so chances are that's what it is.

notsosickly, fissures are horrible too, I know what they're like as well and I'll never forget it, when I had them I had no choice but to empty my bowels into a full bath for it to cut down on the pain of passing stools, not fun either.

Thanks Gonk, I've heard from a few people that eating it doesn't affect your mind as bad compared to smoking it...I'm getting a vaporizer that way it's smoke and stink free...I really hate the taste of it, I was never big on drugs or drinking when I was a teen so I definitely wasn't thrilled about trying it for this but I'm so glad it has helped with the pain and frequency...I didn't start doing it until Oct 15, so from just before Sept 9th (as I was already having pretty painful and frequent BM's) I've been suffering quite a bit more than usual...my hubby asked me once again to try the mj (he's asked me many times in the past but I refused) this pain did me in and I was all for it for that reason...I wasn't even expecting it to cut back the frequency I've been having for decades now.

I still have pretty bad pain with my first few BM's and I try to hold out until early afternoon before a have about 3-4 puffs (just using a pinch of mj so I don't get super baked, just enough to take the edge off the pain) and then it works fairly quickly for relieving the pain, so it still sucks that everyday I wake up in discomfort but at least I have mj to pretty much kill the pain for me.

I've been taking stool softeners (but don't take them longer than a week so my bowels don't become dependant on them) and I even asked my daughter to get me some gentle relief exlax that I will take tonight before bed, my poops have been ridiculous hard and sometimes large, making it shaking in pain difficult to get it out of me. And the pain stays after the BM, and the more BM's I have, the more pain, so I'm just thankful to the mj helping with that.

I can't take Tylenol for pain cuz it just constipates me and I already feel like I'm on the constipated side. Needless to say, it's been hell on my perianal crohn's skin tags, one of them is white instead of flesh colored so I'm scared that something weird is going on with it too...hurts incredibly bad when I have to wipe my butt after bm's....literally sends shooting pains from my left lower back and upwards, there must be nerves attached from my a-hole to that area, what a weird creepy feeling it is when it happens.

I'm a mess :(

Not sure if this has been mentioned but one can really overdo it on the eating, so take it slow and wait at least an hour between bites... If youve made potent batch that is. Once had a really bad experience on a *single* brownie. Eat it in the afternoon/evening and dont plan to go out. Id be interested to find some strains high in cannabinoids and lower in thc to see if a milder edible could be had (that has more medicinal potency).

I believe those strains would be indica ones such as 'northern lights' and 'kush' which apparently have been tested for medicinal purposes.

Anyone here from the UK that buys cannabis seeds online? If so, from where? Thanks.

Yeah I had some relief from the heinous nausea and related pain when I needed it… Def helps.

WOW WOW WOW......i haven't been here in awhile. Been in remission (knock on wood) just happened to click on the forum and saw a Medical Marijuana thread. I almost fainted, but grabbed my vaporizer and took a puff. Finally recognizing it huh. I remember when i brought it up and everyone jumped down my throat (quincy) heheh.. thanks for your help by the way!. anyway, i feel like it has helped me reach remission. I smoke plus i was using Rick Simpson hemp oil.

My God pb4 that sounds terrible. I will pray for you and I hope you find some relief soon.

It's sickening to think about how many people could have pain relief AND healing if MJ were legal.

I've been lucky in that I have never once experienced "pain" in my entire three plus year career with UC. For over three years I have been reading about pain, pain, pain but has anyone anywhere ever come up with an explanation of EXACTLY what is actually causing the pain? Is it just gas and bloating pains, ulcers in connection with nerves, or what? Very curious.
