After battling a flare since January, I am going to start taking Humira. Has anyone had success or failure with Humira? Any advice?

The side effects look scary? Has anyone had an adverse reaction from Humira?

I've been on it for about 3 months after taking Remicade for 18 months. It has not worked for me at all. Switching over to Simponi soon.

I have had two doses. I'm still on a high(ER) dose of prednisone...40mg, down from 80, so I can't say it's working 100%, however I am now having only 1-2 formed stools a day now, I can tolerate more foods, I feel better in General...more energy, and can do the things I enjoy again!
The shots do burn a little, kind of like a bee sting- so be prepared for that.
Also, they have a discount card and a system you can sign up for a sharps box with free pick up, so be sure to sign up for that.

Thank you for your replys and the info about the discount card and pick-up program. It looks like it is hit or miss depending on the individual, typical for UC. At 15 mg of prednisone, my condition is manageable. If I can get to 1-2 BM per day, I would be very happy.

I've been using it for about 10 months, the last 2 months doing 1 shot/week. Seemed to work o.k. for the first 3-4 months, then pretty much nothing. The double dosage hasn't had any effect either, so I'm probably stopping it this week.

I've been on Humira for over a year now. It's been working pretty good. Little blips along the way. Very manageable . I take it weekly.

I just started Humira. I have done my first 4 loading doses and will do 2 more loading doses today. No bad reactions so far. Still on 25 mg Pred so no way to tell if it is working yet. Don't expect it to be at this point though. So far the process of the shots has not been bad at all.

I just received results of TB test (negative), so I guess I am good to go. Waiting for GI doctor to call and get the process started.

I am unfamiliar how this process starts and is maintained. Could you explain the loading doses and how often Humira is dispensed after the loading dose. It seems that some take it weekly and some biweekly.

I think it's different for everyone. I had the loading dose (4shots) all in one day. Two weeks later I had two shots. Then 1 shot every other week. I have seen some say they do it every week....that's for your doc to decide.
Get the discount card- I also got a sharps box and a travel kit at no cost.
It's nice because it's done ya home, you fill at pharmacy just like your other meds. My first 4 shots I did at docs office so they could show me how to use the pen

I have been on Humira for 9 months. Still have loose BMS at least 2times a day . I will discuss the results with my GI next appt

Tomorrow is my third dose and I'm still on prednisone as lialda as well- but I also have 2-3 BMs a day, but they are all formed.
Also- good has not been causing me any issue, I can mostly eat what I want.
