Formed stool and mucus

Haven't been here in a while.  Mostly stable.   I am not having tons of symptoms but I still sometimes have an achy feeling after I go or crampy sharp pains. 

Today I had what were rock type stool.  Followed by a regular looking stool.  When I looked in the toilet the rock like stuff was covered in white mucus.  I am sure I have some inflammation but I also have what seems like ibs ish syptoms.  Active growly bowl without having to run to the bathroom.  Right now only going 1 or 2x a day. 

So worried because my only options left are Remicaide or another biologic.  I have had bad reactions to everything.  Can't take any canasa, mesalamine or 6mp.  Failed them all.  Right now only on LDN and I use Wise woman herbal suppositories now and then.  You know I don't mean to be a downer but I have a gut feeling that my body isnt' going to handle a biologic either.  Plus I may want another baby....

A rock hard stool indicates slow motility leading to constipation. The mucous around it may be normal or not, it's not possible to say.

Are you taking any fiber or eating enough fiber to keep your bowels moving? Perhaps adding a stool softener would keep things more regular. And make sure you're drinking enough water and getting a good amount of exercise.

I know I need to up my fiber. I also changed my probiotic because doc was out of my normal one.

I am just so depressed at the thought of a flare coming on (maybe it's not) but still nervous with such limited treatment options that I am comfortable with.

Also in terms of exercise I have terrible back pain all the time. I am currently fighting my insurance for an MRI. I'm 42 and have had back issues since my 20s. Done all sorts of therapies and it's just aggravating that I can't do what I want to do.

I can walk pretty well which is a blessing. Sitting, laying or any sort of jarring movement is awful. I have had an xray and it was normal.

Walking is great and that should be enough to keep your bowels moving. Walk every day! You might also consider learning some yoga stretches. Twisting stretches can massage the bowel and move stool along. But if your back is touchy please learn yoga from an experienced teacher who can show you how to do it safely.

I know that when I have clear or clear-ish mucus it can usually or almost always be normal. White mucus is always the first symptom of a flare for me. It is usually about a three-four week leading symptom before blood.

But, when I have really hard stools I tend to have a lot of clear or clear-ish mucus even when doing great. I really hope it's not from inflammation just telling you my experience!

Can you get your other probiotic somewhere other than your doctor's? That could be a big reason why you have been going downhill, by changing probiotics when your first one seemed to be working well. I would try really hard to get the original probiotic back (maybe Amazon?) and maybe do your suppositiories every day for a while. Don't just sit back and let yourself get worse.

Also- this may be off topic, but I have heard of a few people being on biological and still able to carry full term healthy pregnancies, may be worth some investigation before you write that off :-)

I don't know that mucus alone is totally abnormal. But different people are different. I've seen a bit of mucus here and there and I might increase my enemas for a few nights or an Asacol...and then back to normal, whatever normal might be.

How are you doing?
