sensitive teeth

The last few days, my teeth have become extremely sensitive to anything cold or hot. I'm wondering if this is possibly from the remicade, or from tapering off of pred. Anyone have any ideas?

In the meantime, I have started using a fluoride rinse as well as sensodyne toothpaste, but it hasn't helped yet.

Probably from the pred. Your gums have probably become somewhat inflamed from the steroids. Be sure to floss gently each night and brush carefully - I'm sure they will recover.

just dropped down to 2.5 mg the other day... planning on being at 0 on wednesday!

My teeth are very sensitive since being on pred too. Common side effect.

pred caused my gums to recess a bit and that made everything very sensitive. Have you looked to see whether your gums have recessed? Mine are back to normal now, they still get sensitive if I drink ice water - especially if I am whitening them but other than that, they are okay. I've been using colgate sensitive, I am not sure if it helps but it may be worth a try.

my gums look ok. It's strange if it is from the pred, because I really didn't notice this until a few days ago when I had tapered down to 5 mg.

Pred did that to my teeth, especially with cold. Now that Im almost off, its somewhat better.

Teeth become sensitive due to many reasons as we eat lots of sweets. A dentist would be able to suggest you instruction treatment to get rid from this problem.

for sure the pred. last time i was on pred i was on it for 5 months. my teeth were really sensitive and i think in 1 month i had to go to the dentist 3 times. 2 of them had chipped.

For sure it's a side effect of Prednisone, but I've also experienced it with Remicade, not as severe though.
Upping Calcium intake seemed to help somewhat.

I'll try the calcium. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the Pred since it didn't appear until after I was tapering and now that I have been off of pred for about a month, it is still there.

OMG! I'm so glad you posted this! I have been having the same issue....I despise prednisone at this point! I'm also growing a freaking beard....and I'm a girl!!!!! Night sweats, puffy face, I get a heat rash when I get too hot...does anyone know if this stuff goes away once your off of it? Or does it stay around?????

well... if it is in fact the prednisone that has caused my sensitve teeth, than the answer is that if it goes away... it takes a while since I have been off of it for a month.

But I can say the sensitivity is so severe that I can't drink water that isn't at least at room temperature.

Happened to me and lasted even after I was off Pred. It goes away eventually.
