Anyway, I'm too tired to argue with the anti-vaccination loons. I don't exactly have a lot of energy to spare and I'm certainly not wasting it on people who are evil ideologues.

'Evil' is a strong word, but I don't know what else to use in this context. These people literally would rather children and adults died than give up their ideology. To me, that's evil. Mod me for it if you must, I don't care. But I will leave a final link.

Pediatricians definitely aren't in it for the money...at least peds who specialize. My sister is a pediatric nephrologist, and she makes less than half of what an adult nephrologist makes, and that's pretty standard across peds specialists. I don't know if there's such a difference between adult and child PCPs or not.

I am for vaccinations but realize there are some woh should receive them. I always get a flu shot, it was mandatory where I worked, But, my father got Gilliam Barre from his first and only influenza vaccine, when he was 88 y/O. He spent 11 days in the hospital, five in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit.

Being immuniosuppressed I keep up to date on my scheduled vaccines and make sure my father does not get one.

Gary you sound like a fool here, putting words in my mouth, and for your next few paragraphs, which I have never implied any value to if you re-read what I've written in my posts. I don't deny that medical advances have gotten us farther. I am currently practicing integrative medicine by using both holistic and medically prescribed to meet my needs.

You can't find what you're not looking for, and what you find when you're looking for something, is all of the bad science, the documented side effects of vaccines and YES autism is a side effect attached to the Hepatitis B vaccine.

Here's a list of things that shouldn't be in vaccines, that are in vaccines.

There is animal/human DNA, bird/cow viruses injected known to be carcinogenic, detergents, emulsifiers, solvents, mineral oil, squalene, a long list of antibiotics, formaldehyde (known carcinogen), ammonium sulfate and glutaraldehyde (known to cause inflammation), MSG, yeast, polysorbate 80 (anaphylactic reactions, infertility in female mice) and borax (known to cause testicular atrophy in male mice), lactose, sorbitol, latex, aluminum and mercury, and this is just a short of list of all thats in a vaccine.

Since you are putting me on the spot for breaking your rule of science, tell me what your excuse is fruitgirl, as a scientist and a mother for not doing your research on all of the disgusting things that embody a vaccine, before allowing them to be injected into your children.

Sorry. I'm not seeing it. I feel the the drs are trying their best to protect our children, and society as a whole, by giving these vaccines.

Some of these doctors, like board certified medical doctor Sherri Tenpenny had no idea what she was injecting into her patients before the year 2000. This is where my sources are coming from! She has devoted over 18,000 hours, and 13 years of her life into researching vaccine studies. She has posted more than 5000 articles into the Vaccine Research Library that are from conventional medical peer reviewed documents.

The research is available to us, as people to be pro-active and make educated decisions for ourselves. If there is anything I leave this discussion with, it's that.

There are a lot of fallacious arguments in this thread that I don't even know where to begin. It would take a whole day for me to address them all. It would also be a colossal waste of time to even try to change the minds of people who refuse to even listen to the contrary viewpoints. My so-called "diabolical" intention isn't to be anti-vaccine, but rather to look at the evidence and some confounding research, and not just blindly listen to some authority. That way we can make more educated and informed decisions about what we decide to put in our body. The statistics from adverse medical reactions are at an all time high for this very reason. It would behoove us to do our own research and not let other people make the conclusions for us.

My argument is that some people look at flu shots like its a vitamin shot, or a B12 shot, come into Wal-greens to get your shot! Nothing could be further from the truth. And, I've never said I'm against advancing medicine. What i'm against is the propagation that is the vaccine industry pushing so many parents to get themselves and their children vaccinated, when really, we all have a choice to be pro-active. The research is out there and there are two sides to the story. This is what i'm proposing.

I think the best argument for a flu vaccine for those of us on this forum is that there is a high risk of post-flu bacterial infection, and then you'd be faced with taking abx, which can make our IBD flare.

I have taken a flu vaccine every year since I got diagnosed with asthma. I don't need to cough for 3 months, which is what happened when I got the flu right before my asthma diagnosis.

I haven't gotten my kids to take the flu vaccine for the reasons you gave, though - I think for them it's a minimal risk. They did get the shot last year because we had a big family event scheduled for early January. As it turned out, about half of their age cohort at school came down with influenza during winter break or right afterward. My two kids did not get sick and we enjoyed our family event (one of the guests who flew in got influenza and her illness started the first evening of her wknd in town. She missed everything and then had to fly back to her home with a fever etc.).

Since this thread I've been wondering about people who push organic foods. How on earth can a food truly be organic? Don't the plants breathe in the same toxic air that we breathe, due to pollution? Don't these plants use nutrients from the soil that who knows what the soil is contaminated with? If you use city water to water the plants then that is full of chemicals. If you use rain water then who knows what is falling down in that rain water from clouds that have blown in from who knows where. I could see extremeists wondering about eating these kinds of "organic" foods but then what in the world could they eat?

What a dumb statement: not getting vaccinated is the opposite of being proactive, in much the same way not voting is the opposite of making a strong political stand.

KMF is a nicer person than me, so he'll at least make an effort to listen to you and take you seriously. Me, I'm not even going to bother with the pretense of taking your views on this topic seriously ever again, because I won't. As far as I'm concerned, I'm tired of crackpots being given a platform to air their minority views on every controversial topic under the sun, in the misguided interests of "objectivity". The flat earthers believe that the earth is flat; are we obliged to point out that a few people still believe the world is flat every time we talk about the earth?

As far as I'm concerned, the antivaxxers shouldn't even be given airtime or space in the mainstream media. A line should be drawn under them, and normal people - by which I mean virtually everybody - should move on and forget about them, just like we forgot about the flat earthers.

And now the all-important question: What I want to know is, why hasn't a vaccine been developed against KMF yet? It's a government conspiracy! ¬_¬

The only dumb statements are ones that generalize things across the board... like saying that by not taking any and all vaccinations you are a "crackpot"... just NCOT have you gone and had every single vaccination under the sun given to you? I mean if you haven't clearly you must be some radical crackpot who believes the earth is still flat... FYI, I really really doubt you've had every vaccination possible.... think before you speak

 

@Butte1 - We will have to agree to disagree on this one. We could go in circles about the logic here all night.

You can't possibly protect your child from every accident, every danger under the sun. If there is a simple measure I can take to prevent a severe illness or possible death for my child or others, I'm going to take it.

You don't always have a heads up before an accident occurs. I did, however, have the knowledge ahead of time that not giving my children this vaccine has even a slim possibility that they could become seriously ill or even die from the virus. Did I take that precaution? You bet I did, and I would do it again just because it's not worth that even remote chance that they could be one of the few.

If you're going to give the vaccine to them when they are older anyway, why not do it when they are younger?
