So, I may have had UC since 2012 after I finish high school and started college. I would get urgency and then bloody diarrhoea, but I never knew what it was. Went to the doctors, and they were kinda so-so. I didn't really get any diagnosis, so I would just feel awful.
We moved house and subsequently moved doctors, so when I got looked at I finally got some answers. My GP is awesome, by the way. I was diagnosed with anaemia and she wanted to have a bowel exam so they could find out why I had anaemia. But, it didn't really get moving for a while. I managed to do my AS exams feeling completely awful. I would feel sick, hardly eating. I'd be going to the toilet constantly and I'd have awful cramping. It was just awful. I don't know how I passed them.
Things got worse around September. I could hardly keep food down. I was pale and verging on skeletal. I was going to the toilet constantly and it was always bloody. I was so anaemic that I only had a period for about a day. But the worse thing was, I could barely walk - if I did I would feel like my legs were separate from me, and my head was so fuzzy. I was exhausted! I was just vomiting bile, I was so ill and had been for about three weeks when I went in to have a siegmodoscopy. I nearly collapsed! Turns out, I had speticemia, I was dehydrated, malnourished and severely anaemic. Yeah, I had to have two blood transfusions, I was on a drip and had to have IV steroids and antibiotics.
10 days later, I was out the hospital and on a decreasing dose of Pred - 5mgs every week. I'm on two for the next week and then 1 and I'll be finished. I was just wondering if anything drastic happens when I come of - by which I mean, will I get I'll again. I know it's whinny, but I've been so well, which I haven't felt for about a year and I never did realise how much you come to appreciate food when you haven't been able to eat and enjoy it. So, did anyone have any problems when they came of the Pred? I am taking asacol 800mg three times a days as well, but I was just wondering.
Sorry for such a long post.
