I do have to say I LOVE food, but my colon doesn't like it too much.
This year I'm actually making the turkey and gravy for my large family group (15). Although I'm just a single guy. Will I eat a lot and a lot of stuff that may or may not agree with me?!? Absolutely!
How does everyone else feel about
this national food holiday in relation to your UC?

This will be my first thanksgiving since being diagnosed. I'm a little nervous about
it, especially since I'm still in an active flare and my dr just took me off of all steroids last week. I just plan on eating small amounts and not going overboard.

Ugh...I am a foodie who loves to eat and this crappy UC has ruined it for me. I never realized how many things revolve around food until I got diagnosed. The mother of all food holidays doesn't make me too happy. Sorry...I am a downer..boo.

One year I was in the hosptial for Thanksgiving thanks to a horrid flare. :(
Now that I have had surgery and have a j pouch I can enjoy eating again but if I eat too much at one sitting it's pouch overload! I will end up with a big ol stomach ache. So I just eat a little of this and that and enjoy it without stuffing myself. (which that's what you are supposed to do anyway) Hope you get to enjoy some of it. :)

This will be my first non-vegan thanksgiving in a long time so I am looking forward to making some more traditional (albeit gluten free) dishes this year. I am still in the fence about
making my traditional maple bourbon pecan pie, I am not sure how the combination of sugar/nuts will go down. I guess I don't have to eat it, but I plan on eating a little of most dishes.

i'm excited! we are having the family over. mother just picked up our 22 lb turkey from the farm near us.
i'm making butternut squash gratin, crustless pumpkin pie, and crab and bacon stuffed mushrooms.
now feeling well enough to eat everything is another story. i will have small servings of all the fibrous veggie food and eat as much turkey as i want. that carcass is going in the crockpot the next day for some good bone broth.

this is my first one with an active flare, and also first one completely isolated from my family since I moved across country. I got a couple invites from local friends and I think I will just go to the next door neighbors so I can run back home easily! Right now I'm also avoiding grains and dairy but turkey or rather chicken and some veggies are fine. I might try a liquid diet soon though.

Oh I just love Thanksgiving food. All of it and I am lucky that usually I don't feel any ill effects from it except maybe needing to go an extra time the next day. Go figure with all that food. Oh and PIE!!!!

Digestion starts in the mind, so be very mindful of what I am eating and drinking, try not to focus so much on the food and just be thankful for everything "else" good going on in my life. Come to think of it this will be the first Thanksgiving I have been in active flare. For 11 years I guess that is something to be thankful for in its self.. UC gets me really down but the stress of being down only makes it worse.

I'm cooking. I'll be able to eat everything except the green bean casserole. I'm going to leave a little without the onions for me.
I'm not buying wine this year, since it was normally my Dad and I that drank it, and I don't drink anymore.
I have to work Friday, but I know I'll have a nice lunch at work :)
I'm seeing my IBD Specialist on Tuesday, so I'll be eating chicken and rice for the first part of the week. *blech*

I always cook. Thanksgiving food doesn't bother me unless there is too much fat, which upsets my IBS. So goodbye butter, hello a light brushing of canola oil. I cook my bird the night before, so the next day I can skin the solidified fat off the top of the broth. Saves all the flavor without the fat. We now have pumpkin pie rather than pecan, so that doesn't bother me at all.
I've always loved Thanksgiving. To me, it's such an undemanding holiday. No gifts to buy, no over-the-top expensive decorating, just a four-day weekend and good, healthy turkey breast.

Serenity you'll have to forgive me. I mean, I'm still trying to catch up with The Sound of Music winning Best Picture.

Bring it on! :) I have never forgone a Thanksgiving meal no matter the consequence. Heck, it only happens once a year so why not enjoy it?! Of course I avoid some of the major no-no foods, like for instance corn for me, but everything else is fair game.
I am going to my MIL's house, like I do every year. Normally I do the green bean casserole, but I am making pies this year too (pumpkin and chocolate).

On a side note, if anyone has a favorite gluten free pie crust recipe and is willing to share, I am looking for one!

I'm planning on bringing to my family dinner food for myself: SCD Cranberry Sauce (very easy to make on the stove with honey and oragange juice) butter nut squash, green beans with almonds, turkey, and I'm hoping to pick up a gluten free roll and pumpkin pie. The local grocery store has been advertising the gluten free pies and rolls so I won't be making them myself.

I am planning to eat all of the Thanksgiving goodies I want and celebrate the fact that I'm in remission! Two years ago, I was so sick in bed with a bad flare.... My hubby and kids went out to eat for Thanksgiving with my mother-in-law while I stayed in bed sulking. It was pitiful to see the sad look on my 7 year old's face as they left.
