Kefir Milk

Hello everyone,

I recently started to drink Kefir milk (i make it at home) and found that I have not had any bleeding for 3 days so far after 8 months. But I did read on WebMD that Kefir can increase the risk of getting an infection from the bacteria and yeast when taken with Medications that decrease the immune system (Immunosuppressants) so now I'm afraid of drinking it.

Has anyone had any experience with it here? I have not talked to my doctor yet but I will, I'm just looking for input. Thank you

cow, goat, rabbit, or other milk ?

I don't see the connection, unless it is contaminated during making process.

I wonder which milk do you use.

Hi Deema,

1) WebMD is riddled with so many conflict of interests that you should not be relying on them for medical information. It's demeaning to go to a site that preys on ones medical problem only to be told to take drug x to cure it.

2) The problem with immunosuppressants and biologics is that they increase your risk of infection from just about anything, even something as simple as handshakes

3) You say that you saw improvement after 8 months of bleeding. It seems clear that you need to 1) discuss with your doctor about discontinuing immunosuppressants since they don't seem to be doing anything 2) continue the kefir route and gauge your symptoms again.

It is absolutely amazing, I use fat free cow milk and drink it daily. I have some diarrhea because of it but it's not too bad. I feel great. I had a little lapse today and bled a little bit, BUT, that was after a week of drinking Kefir. To be honest I dumped my doctor, he is not willing to listen to anything other than hard core drugs. I'm seeing a new one on December 18th. I'm telling you, I couldn't believe the positive affect I've seen from this stuff. I can't stop Humira without talking to a doctor first so I will bring that up to see what I need to do to stop taking it. As far as I know I can't just stop. I will continue using Tacrolimus because it seems to help a little.

So much for that, I'm bleeding again..I just don't know what to do anymore..
