migraines indicating start of UC Flares.

I have had migraines since i was 4 years old, brain scans etc when i was a child.Recently during UC flare ups i am having horrendous migraine attacks, this current one is now 48 hours of nonstop pain.its killing me to look at this laptop. I have noticed that the migraines now are very closely linked to flare ups or increased UC symptoms.

I have tried all painkillers and none of them work, has anyone any reccomendations? I used to use a drug called syndol and it was great but it has been taken off the market over here, and i cannot find anything else that works as well.

I normally have to ride out my migraines :( when they are really bad I take a tablet for nausea as directed and also anything with codeine in it every four to six hours.. Also an ice pack helps me as well.. My dr said your tummy an migraines are related so you need to settle the tummy at the same time or your migraines take longer to go away.. Hope this helps.

the nausea is really horrible, when i do get a little reprieve from the intensity of headache i really notice how bad the nausea is. I have been putting wet cloths in the freezer and then using them, they do help. I am also using tiger balm rub on my temples and sinus area.

Wow, you have been suffering migraine since age 4? and you are now what, 36? How did you sail?

Syndol is not something exclusive drug, you can always find these medication individually, if thats what you need and works.
I would like to know though which medications and dosage forms have you used. Personally, I have used

- NSAIDs, work great, put me in flare
- beta blockers, don't do a thing
- Triptan derivatives (sublingual, shots) - nothing
- basic antidepressants - nothing
So currently taking Botox and Nabumetone as abortive. Botox did wonders at first dose, second dose wasn't that fruitful.

That's awful Marty. The only thing that helps mine is if I take a long and very hit shower then throw some peppermint oil on my temples and immediately try to fall asleep (if I could). My wife also found this thing on "Pinterest" on how to stop one, I haven't personally tried it but I'm when I'm desperate enough I won't think twice. Here goes;

1. Submerge your hands and feet in hot water.
2. Put a frozen bag of peas (or any vegetarian from your freezer) on the back of your neck

The idea is that the heat on your extremities will pull the blood from your head giving you relief. Like I said, no clue if it works but might be worth a try. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your replies. deltaforce.. i have been on migraleve, naproxen, codeine,codeine phosphate, diclofenic sodium, ibuprofen, aspirin, solpadaol,amitriptyline, ultram (tramadol s/r 400mgs daily)and many, many others throughout the years.
When i was around 6 years old my mother worked out that chocolate was a major trigger and cheese. which led to a total ban on chocolate for me for many years( it was no fun being a kid not allowed to eat chocolate lol).
The naproxen works really well when you take it everyday but after a few days the increase in UC symptoms is not worth it.
thank you evryone for your advice i am going to try rabbit81856 hot water treatment,, and let you know how it goes.

Yay, both of us are from same category. Alleve works with me too, not just works but its awesome, and puts me in flare within 2 to 3 hours.

Nabumetone 750mg (Rx only) would work, give it a shot. I have been using it for almost 2 years now, with success.

DW is PT, so I have been through what rabbit mentioned (and a ton of other more things). It didn't work with me. Nabumetone is my 'savior'.
