I'm so pleased to hear that some of you have found Curcumin to be helpful in controlling UC, because, in october I had a wicked flare. My naturopathic doctor recommended taking, InflaGuard (curcumin, boswellia, devils claw) 3-4 capsules 3x daily. And within two weeks, I was doing terrific. Back to 2-3 daily formed stools, no blood, no pain.
InflaGuard is standardized to contain 95% total curcuminoids. (serving: 2 tablets = 750mg) So, if I take 16 tablets daily (divided/away from meals) 4,500g. He recommended this brand because it has been studied.
www.douglaslabs.ca/pdf/pds/INF.pdf. And, although it's a bit of price hike compared to other brands, I've found through experimentation, this to be a good fit for me. Recently, i've noticed changes in my stool consistency and he gave me the OK to double, triple and quadruple my dosages during the on-set of flares. Also to add 6-9oz of Aloe Vera Juice daily.
I feel so thankful this has worked, and my biggest concern was that my body would become intolerant to this supplement, but he's assured me it should not happen, unlike prescript
ion medicine.
