Lambkins, sadly, accidents are just a part of this horrible disease. I've had a few public accidents as well over the years. If your condition is worsening then you need to change around your medications. Get in touch with your GI and get some new prescriptions.
Judy2 is right, urgency is caused by inflammation specifically when in the rectum. The best thing you can do is get your inflammation under control, and then you will not need to worry about accidents. It might be as simple as a few weeks of steroid enemas or pred to get it tamed. On the other hand, it could be adding new maintenance medications to your daily mix. Your GI can best tell how severe your inflammation is, and how quickly you are responding to your new or revised treatment plan.
Whether you tell your husband or not is irrelevant, as he might witness an accident unless you get this under control quickly. If you are not already, bring along an emergency kit with you containing a big ziplock bag, change of underwear, and some wipes for cleanup. The sooner you can get a prescription the better, try and nip this on the bud before it gets worse!
