Prednisone and Rowasa together?

Hello all. Got home today from 7 day hospitalization. My doc moved me from Rowasa to 15mg pred. So far not working, and I got a blood clot in the hospital so I have a lot of blood from the thinners.

My question for you guys is: why stop the rowasa? I know it wasn't strong enough on its own to stop the flare, but I have always felt a somewhat soothing relief from it, even if only for a few hours in the morning after it passes. Is there an interaction that doesn't allow both to be used? And for that matter, what about oral mesalamines as well. The mesalamines have worked for previous flares, and I just feel like things got worse when I stopped. Could just be coincidence though.

I would continue the enemas if you felt they were helping. Sometimes doctors stop things if they aren't convinced it's doing anything or if they think maybe it's making things worse. 15mg is a low dose of prednisone. Not sure how your symptoms are, but 15mg may not be enough. Not sure if you can go higher with your blood situation.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am going to ask if I can start using them today. I am bleeding so much now I fear that I am in fact bleeding out on the thinners. I just got home yesterday and I can't stand the thought of going back already. This is all happening so fast :(
