Does it matter when you eat the RS? As in, time of day, on empty stomach, with or with out protein etc. Does it make a difference?
Once I've acquired potato starch...what the heck do I do with it?
Can you give me an example of how much RS to eat a day? Do I ease in and gradually increase? Can you tell me what/when you eat in a sample day?
I'm serious about
adding RS to my treatment. Thanks for your help,

There was a whole thread on this
here
. I encourage you to use the search feature because it answers all of your questions. :)
I'm just a bit weary of repeating the same answers.

Don't feel bad, there is so much info available it can be overwhelming to sift through it all. I started with green bananas in my smoothies and went from there. I eat beans since they don't bother me at all, I now put 1.5 TBSP of potato starch in my smoothies also, but you can mix it with water if you would rather. We also eat a lot of baked green plantains too, but not daily.

Sorry for coming off as an @***. I wish threads like the spinach/sunflower, l reutari/oregano oil were just available for everyone to see, like as a sticky. Oh the trouble some people could have saved (myself included). :(
To answer your question, you want to begin the p. starch very slowly, like 1/2 teaspoon and work your way up to an optimal amount that your gut likes. Everyone has their own tolerances.
like Mom2boys said, there are tons of options - plantains, green bananas, navy beans, etc. Just go with the ones that suit you best and make sure to reinforce with probiotics, fermented foods, good diet rich in butyrate (butter).

I started with just regular foods like navy beans and green bananas. I recently started adding the PS. I take ~3t each day either mixed just in water or with peanut butter. Definitely start slow and work your way up. I had to back off a couple times before adding more again.

I havent really made a plan to add RS to my diet yet, but I am mindful of them now. I generally choose a cold potato option now. Like I'll make potato salad and have that a couple times a week. Just get myself used to it so when I am ready to add RS in, it will be really simple. :)

I have 5 tablespoons of potato starch per day, 3 before breakfast and 2 after dinner. I mix it with applesauce and cinnamon. I've also tried drinking it mixed into water with a little sweetener and vanilla extract (mentioned on another website) and it tasted pretty good.
Work up slowly. I started at 1/2 tablespoon and tolerated it so well, I got to 5 tablespoons within 2 weeks.
I was taking 6 tablespoons a day in an effort to get rid of the last remaining symptom of my flare: loose stool. It didn't make a difference so now I'm at 5 tablespoons and will probably go down to 4 tablespoons for maintenance.
The big change I've noticed is that my BMs and gas smell normal. Before the RS, I was in a flare and would stink up the bathroom so badly, like really foul, and nothing would get rid of the smell. It was so embarrassing. I'm sticking with the RS even if this is the only benefit - but I do believe it's helping my gut in other ways.
I'm going to submit to the American Gut Project to see how much good and bad stuff is in me.

Very interesting kiptyn, I'm glad you got some results. I also like the idea of adding it to applesauce, I think that's something I can totally do!
