Been on Humira a year with no issues. Took shot on Friday, on Monday got hot flashed and lightheaded with dizziness. This has been going on for 5 days now. Is tons worse when I get really hungry. I went to the dr and he thinks it is unrelated. I was also taking chanca piedra (herbal supplement to help my kidney stones). I ran out on Sunday. Doc thinks this is withdraw from the chanca piedra. I am not convinced since it has been 5 days now. But that is the only thing that I have changed. So, does anyone on Humira get hot flashes and lightheaded? How long does it last and how far out from you shot do you get this? I have read some people get it but it is 24-72 hours after shot. Could this really be from an herbal supplement? I mean it is BAD. Have not been at work all week. Won't drive. Any thoughts?

Oh wow, sorry you are feeling so bad. Dizziness is one of the worst feelings, IMO. I agree it doesn't sound like it could be the herbal supplement.

I know this isn't scientific at all but I always check autocomplete on Google. I started typing in side effect of humira dizz...and it suggested "is dizziness a side effect of humira" so some other folks have the same question

FWIW 'is dizziness a side effect of remicade' does NOT come up, just 'side effects of remicade'.

I used to take Humira...I'd get flu-like symptoms (body ache, fever, extreme fatigue) for a day or two after my injection. Once I started to pre-medicate with tylenol and benedryl, it went away.

Your logic pointing to the humira is odd. Your symptoms began when you stopped taking the herbal supplement. What makes you think the chanca piedra is NOT the culprit? My few minutes of reading shows that this herb changes the way your body processes calcium (why it may help with stones) and may also affect your blood sugar. No one has studied it to any great degree that I can see, so maybe there is a dizziness side effect that happens when you stop?

Or maybe you simply have a transient case of vertigo?

i'm sure it's possible!! i am having the same symptoms with simponi. besides the fact that i have no voice today and a wicked sore throat, i've been having dizzy spells for the past 2 weeks. also bouts of nausea and lightheadedness. i called my doctor about it and when he ran my bloodwork, it was GREAT. i'm pretty sure it's the simponi because i haven't done anything different or i'm just having a very long but mild "bug."

i took my last shot on the 11th so it's been six days, but the dizziness started after my first show three weeks ago.

You might have to flip a coin. There can be such a thing as a bad batch of Humira. Or, it could be the other. I don't know if you will ever know for sure. Have you tried taking any antihistamines? I would think if it was a reaction to Humira this would help. Otherwise I vote with your doc. Or, the answer could be behind door number 3.

kazbern-I don't know which one it is. That is what I am trying to figure out.

Banana-how long after your simponi shot did your dizziness show up?

Just got my blood work back from the doc and it all looks good. My thought is if it were the Humira it would have started sooner after my shot, not the 3rd day after. But the chanca piedra is used to help with dizizness, so maybe I have been having it all along, but it only showed up after I quit taking it. I don't want to continue with the Humira if I am going to go through this again. It is not worth it.

I haven't had bad side effects and i was on Humira once a week, now twice a week. However i did shoot it once while i was just starting a cold and that was not a good decision. I had fever like symptoms without the actual fever.. otherwise it doesn't seem to bother me but then again, everyones different...
