Need some advice please.remicade not helping so far

Hi so I've done two infusions I know it takes time. Stopped Lialda 5asa didn't help much but now I see maybe it did since I'm bleeding a ton. I have steroids and my doc suggested those before to try again. What's a short course to get the bleeding under control. I'm miserable. I'm back on my Lialda, working up to 4 a day.

I suspect I feel so bad cuz I'm bleeding a lot!!

I have steroids is there a week or two I can and what dose usually

Did you ask your GI about doing a course of steroids? Usually people start at 40mg and taper from there. the most common is probably the 40mg, 30mg, 20mg, 10mg, 5mg, 0mg. I once did this over the course of a month or two and it helped a ton at first but I relapsed. You should really get your GI involved if you're going to resort to steroids. I am sorry you're feeling so terrible. I wish we could all get a break from this.

Huh.. Man you are having a rough go at it... geeze..

Is it Prednisone you are referring to by "steroids"? For pred I was always 40mg/daily for 2 weeks then taping by 5mg/day from there. But I have heard of short term doses as well. What does you doc say? Did he not tell you or give you a prescription?

Yeah I'm going to make a appt with him tomorrow, plus I have ITP my platelet go up and down and I bruise easy I can tell they are down.

Can you be on remicade and pred the same time, correct . I'm on Lialda too agin. I feel like medication overload :(

Have you ever tried IVIG? It may help both your ITP and your UC. It only lasts for a few weeks but it usually works very well.

Sorry for your misfortune. Uceris is a great steroid that stopped my bleeding, and reduced the inflammation of my colon. You might need to try another steroid.

Also, how long have you been on Lialda? It stopped working for me.

Hmm - I think you can be on both... I cannot remember if I was but I think there's a good possibility that at first I was. In fact, now that I think about it I'm pretty sure I was on Remicade, Methotrexate and Prednisone all at once... I remember I had some pretty crazy side effects from all these - I think that's about when I made the switch to SCD... which helped to a degree.

It's funny though cause there's a little ummm "foggy period" back then - which I think was caused by being on all three lo. That was some serious meds.

yeah, you can be on as many drugs as you want or don't want!! my record at one time was cipro, flagyl, prednisone, 6mp, remicade, canasa, prilosec, and zofran.

i hate that you're feeling so crappy, linda!!! why won't anything work??? so irritating. you need a break.

I'm currently on 10mg/kg Remicade, 40mg Prednisone, 2400mg Asacol HD and 100mg Imuran.
