Hello,
I am currently in the hospital, on 60mg of liquid prednisone, TPN, and Humira and getting worse. Has anyone tried Cyclosporine?

I can't help you with your question I haven't tried that drug but I'm sorry to hear you're getting worse.
I ended up in the hospital last year because of my UC and was pretty scared.
I made a turn around with fluids, IV prednisone, an antibiotic (or two) and a blood transfusion but it took a few days. Here in Canada we generally don't get to ask for or dictate which drugs to use. I hope you have a competent doctor to get you through this.
Good luck and keep us posted on what's going on.

Sorry to hear you're not doing well. I've never used cyclosporine but just wanted you to know I'm rooting for you to feel better soon.

I read it is an immuno suppressant developed to prevent transplant rejection, and is used when there is no response to IV steroids.
so it may depend on what you mean by "getting worse"

You may want to do a search for cyclosporine, we have other members who have been given it in the hospital. How are you doing today?

Yes, I do not have c-diff, I have lost 20 pounds in 10 days at the hospital and I am not responding to the steroids. I read that cyclosporin is used for severe UC. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it for UC?

I am on Remicade and my infusion nurse told me that she has seen a lot of people respond to remicade that hadn't responded to humira. Was there any talk of remicade for you?

My son was very ill like you and nothing was working so they tried him on iv ciclosporine. It took a few days but it did kick in and save his bowel. Took it for 3 months then stopped as kidney function was suffering. Took azathiapriin during this time to let it build up. Then started remicade which worked for about
5 months then stopped. Good luck - hope you are better soon.
