Numbness on top of left foot?

For the past month, I am having a very annoying numbnes on the (located mostly on the right side) top of my left foot. I did some goggling, and found the perfect description. It feels like I am wearing a sock when I touch it. Yesterday I tried massaging it, and later when I walked around the house, I felt as electricity was passing through the affected area. My toes are not affected, but I have noticed when I massage the left side from the shin on the affected leg, it sends, again, something like I could best describe like electricity to the affected area of the foot. This condition occurred before I was on any other therapy aside from sulfasalizine. Any opinion or advice? It's driving me mad, and since I am very mentally exhausted, I am starting to get paranoid about it.

I have had a similar problem recently. My thumb on my right hand has gone numb. It was so distracting and was driving me crazy. It was during the Christmas holidays and I was starting to feel a flare coming on with increased pain and frequency. I decided to start back on my Imuran which of course suppresses the immune system. I was amazed that within about 6 hours of taking my first dose of Imuran my thumb started to regain feeling. It now is only numb at the very tip. Stranger still is that each morning I wake up it has that numb feeling until I take my medicine and it then goes away.
I talked to my doctor about it who said that it could be inflamation which is common with autoimmune disease. The Imuran fights the immune system response and decreases the inflamation.
I guess the best thing about this strange symptom is that I never forget to take my medication!!!
Please post with an update. You are the only one I have found with this symptom and I joined this community today just to respond to your post.

i don't have that problem on the top of my foot but i do have it in the ball/toes of my foot, mainly left foot and a few toes on the right foot. i've noticed certain medications cause these symptoms for me to be more noticeable- 6mp, flagyl, cipro, and vancomycin. i've gotten use to its presence because i've had it since 2011 and don't think it's going away.

Lumbar (L5/S1) disc problem, mild case sciatica, compression of peroneal nerve at knee somewhere, some sort of circulatory issue. Can google test for dermatomes lower extremity to better isolate it.

I would have said back and nerve impingement based on my own issues and numbness I get.

I am ending my third week of Imuran, and I should go for a check with my doctor tomorrow morning and I will have my foot checked. I've been poking my foot non-stop, so it became sore too. God, I hope there is a way to reverse whatever it is. It's so uncomfortable, and I really don't need any new crap from this illness. I've turned into a hypochondriac because of it... Lupus, multiple sclerosis, every possible worst-case scenario is crossing my mind. Today I am focused on peripheral neuropathy, and I am googling dermatomes lower extremity right away. :)

Neuropathy is another possibility. It causes numbness and tingling and later pain. It can be associated with poor blood flow or diabetes.
