I feel your frustration. Pooping my pants on a daily basis was the last straw for me. That's when I decided to have surgery (all the meds failed).

Have you tried taking Imodium? Stay away from foods that aggravate your UC. I know, easier said than done. Hang in there.

I found that taking the max dose of immodium slowed things down after a week during a flare. The only places I go when I am bad is hiking because I can dash in the woods. Loose pants and suspenders work well for this. Haven't tried going commando but that might help.

Once I see a doctor Quincy! I'll be demanding them.

I dont eat... and yet I still poop. I pooped once at the thrift store. And this is my third time in the restaurant.

I havent take. Imodium... but I suppose I should start now that things have gotten so bad again. I literally poop in my diaper at least once a day.

Can't wait for some stronger meds! Cant wait for march 19th!

Nssg... I think ill call the gi office in the morning and get on that list... but also explain whats going on and tey to get in earlier.

Imodium is a good idea, hopefully it will help you. Are you on any medications?

As for your situation, I think you should try Uceris. I was on Lialda as well and it was great until my recent flare up. Even with no other medications, Uceris cut my number of BM's in half.

Quincy; totally off pred over a week now.

After I got my Balsalazide my NP said no more UC help from them... had to see a GI.

I do have hemmies... and my GP dealt with that... what suppositories can I get from her for that? I can call her tmrw.

For my hemmies they gave me hydrocortisone cream 2.5% with this application tip to get it inside... but that surgeon I talked too said to glove up and use a finger to get some up in there... never ended up going the glove route cuz I got the lidocaine.

Yeah, your GP should be able to prescribe at the very least mesalamine enemas..............but..........you could ask for anusol steroid suppositories to help somewhat with rectal inflammation AND the hemmie in conjunction with the other lidocane (because you can tell her/him that it's reared its ugly self again (lie through your teeth!).

I agree with poopin....make a call to the GI and ask if there's any possibility to get in to see him sooner.

When you tapered the pred....did you drop from 5 - 0?

Quincy: the blood was already back full force before I dropped from 5 to 0, yes. Since the pred never did anything for me i did a fast taper 60 immediately to 50, 40, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10,5 all at one week intervals and 5 for a week and a half. Was going to do two weeks but once the blood was full force I just eff it and didnt want to deal with it anymore.

Today has been thr most painful tenesmus I've ever had. I pooped out all yesterdays food by 10am so I decided to go all liquids today. Been pooping painful blood mucous all day. Such horrid pain I thought I was going to pass out... actually kind of thought I did but I was okay.

After this hell today you bet ill be sweet talking everyone I can in the morning!

Embersglow1, sounds like you need stronger meds if you are having troubles like you describe. I am not sure if rowasa is enough, worth a shot for sure. I'd recommend getting prepared mentally for stronger uc meds, immunosuppressives for example. The mental aspect is always the hardest bridge to cross when starting any of these meds because all have risks even though they are often small. I'm no GI, and none of us here are, but it sounds like you have a hard to treat case of uc, as I do, and therefore you need some strong stuff to fight it.

Weren't you in alberta province? Maybe canadian GIs are harder to get into. Here in the usa, I see my GI every 6 weeks, for the last two years straight. My uc just keeps on spreading, is slow to respond to various treatments, and I keep needing stronger meds. I am thankful I see my GI so frequently as I've been struggling, yet I would love to hear that I am well enough to not need to see the GI for many months lol.

If your GP won't treat your UC, then your GP should call the GI doc's office and get an earlier appt for you. That's what my doctor has done when I needed to see a specialist quickly.

Seriously, it's a breach of a Physician's duty to refuse to treat you when you have no other options. Especially if you're in extreme pain.

If that doesn't work, go to the ER. Extreme pain is a valid emergency.
