Here is the most recent item I've been able to find on this topic of transplant. Still not the Colon but IBD none the less.
Small Bowel Transplantation for the Treatment of Crohn’s Disease
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3533214/"The largest series that has been reported is comprised of 6 adult patients. Two of these patients developed early, persistent histologic changes that were consistent with CD, but none of the patients developed endoscopically or clinically measurable disease up to 2 years post-transplantation."
I'm still curious to find a definitive answer that say like 50% will have recurrence or something to that nature. I can't find anything in this regard.
I guess time will tell. It's an interesting article.
@ Pluot - Do you have a paper or study that says a certain percentage develop active Crohn's disease in their transplanted intestine? I'd really like to read it if so. I've been curious on this for sometime now.
