Me three, no weight loss for many years, no pain (except mental) but did have bleeding that wasn't taken seriously it until I was seriously anemic.
You sound like you're Canadian or British so maybe you have fewer choices about
changing your GI. My suggestion (besides getting another opinion and GI) is to cut out fiber from your diet, supplement with a fiber pill in small quantity.
Can you get a stool test done on your own to see if you have blood in stool or convince your family doc to order it?
My experience with US GI's is that we UC'ers have to manage our UC personally and use doctors for prescript
ions. Can you insist on a higher dosage of your RX? Remind him of your toxic megacolon and the desire not to repeat that (which would not reflect well on your GI).
I also think you should be using a mesalamine enema nightly, not just a suppository.
Popping back to add this from someone elses post, it might help your constipation:
www.lepicol.com/lepicol-info/285/what-is-lepicolSounds like it's a UK product.
Or... you could use psyllium seed or husk, probiotics and digestive enzymes, all of which have been discussed here positively.
