So I started Simponi on Thursday, and it has an auto injector pen. Does anyone else find these extremely painful? I was in tears, while one person practically held me down and my mom was doing the actual injection. I generally have a really high pain tolerance (14 piercings, and a tattoo, none hurt) is this normal? Do you get used to the pain?

I've heard of this with Humira before but it seems like most people on Simponi talk about how relatively painless it is. I'm sure they will chime in soon.

Simponi is painless. Hardly feel a thing. Humira was a different story. I thought it stung a bit. Nothing I couldn't handle. Not sure why it hurt so much. Did both loading doses by myself. Hope you have better luck with your next injection.

simponi doesn't hurt me at all like humira did but i changed to the syringes instead of the injector pens. i had injector pains on humira and i fainted from the pain. the syringes i use for simponi go in pretty easily and it's like a quick flu shot.

I have been on Humira since October. I have no problems giving myself the injection. I use the pen. Have never had my GI or his nurse give it to me.

Any update on how Simponi is working for you? Right now I'm in the process if getting insurance approval and I would love to hear your review of the drug. :)

I would like to know as well. I have tried Humira and it stopped working. Right now I'm on Remicade and Imuran, which do seem to be working. It'd be nice to know that there is another drug to try if Remi stops.

I'm on the process of getting Simponi approved, and I will update on how it works for me. It's my first tnf-a blocker do inhale nothing to compare it to. 6mp has stopped working unfortunately so it's time to move on.

I find syringes to be less painful. I have Humira pens and I do methotrexate with a 28g 1/2 insulin syringe. It's creepy with the syringe but it is painless. I mean I stick it in my thigh and cannot even feel it.

Maybe it was just being the first time that I was freaking out and it hurt really bad. I had the first 2 injections on Thursday and was on IV steroids from Wednesday night to Friday night. I feel a lot better already. I don't know if that's the Simponi or the steroids but we'll see. I will keep you all updated! But getting insurance approval was HORRIBLE. Mine was ordered then cancelled 3 times. No one knew what they were doing, my mom and my GI's nurse spent at least 20 hours on the phone in one week.
