rarely I have this feeling, but this indicates there are inflammation, is one of the symptoms of colitis or may be some infection? thanks

Tenesmus is a common symptom of uc. That sensation can come and go. Often it is associated with inflammation, gets worse when you are badly inflamed, better when you have no or less inflammation.

Tenesmus sucks.
if you are having this symptom with increased D and pain... get checked for C. DIFF too.

Otherwise... just one more symptom that comes with the territory.

Tenesmus is so bad. It literally kills. i have experienced it..my Gi said it indicates the presence of inflamation. It shows disease is active

Hydrocortisone suppositories are great for tenesmus.

Are your symptoms throughout the day? Worse when having bms?

Rectal meds for sure, but if your UC flare is beyond a limited part of your rectum, I'd suggest the enemas in conjunction with the supps.

An antispasmodic can help between your bms to at least take some of the edge off some of the colon/rectal spasming.

It's a great indicator that you need rectal meds when dealing with tenesmus...which really sucks when you feel tenesmus, it's such a gross feeling. Considering my rectum is in horrible shape right now both my GI and I are stumped that I'm not feeling tenesmus (which I'm glad for but it still weirds me out).
