Diagnosed UC last JULY @ Swedish hospital (good hospital!). Everytime I come off the Prednisone completely & the hydrocortisone enemas and just take my maintenance drug (apriso) i am good for a month.. then the flare comes back.. This is my fourth flare. I got a new GI and he wanted to admit me since this flare i cant hold anything down and very bad nausea etc. I got admitted and I feel like no one knows what to do!! *screams*They put me on anti biotics without even waiting for my Medical Records from the hospital i was diagnosed with UC at.. once they get my records they took me off the antibiotics(Flagyl, and Ceftprotaxte or something)
They have me on IV Prednisone and liquids to keep hydrated.. I have severe stomach pains and nausea, I am taking stuff for that and it is bearable. But everytime i eat or drink the liquids it just comes out with dirrhea.. I have bloody diarrhea, to no bloody diarrhea, its just all over the place. I get a new Doctor/GI every day since ive been here (this is day 3 of hospital visit) So from what I THINK they want to do is put me on Humira or Remicade? Is that a good idea? to just jump to the biologics without trying the other less harmful ones first? All I've taken for flares are Apriso, Prednisone and Prednisolone whatever i think they the same? I mean they don't want to do enemas like last time or something.. I just am stressed! They did a test for TB I Guess which could be for the remicade? I got a flu shot too which was weird? and it's like for the diarrhea not stopping they just had me talk to some dietician and wants me to drink this protein drinks.. does this sound right? At the hospital last time they just had me take prednisone 40mg, enemas and apriso and it seemed like i got better faster that method than this time with all these new meds they are guessing or whatever.. argh! Sorry just wanted to vent! I imagine i'll be here forever! any ideas? Right now they have me on Prednisolone (IV), Sodium crap that keeps you hydrated, Oxycodone for pain, diluatin for pain, and these very good anti nausea pills that are way better than zofran! I don't know the name hehe :( Well thanks for reading!
