What do you think about
cycling? Would it be bad for healing proctitis? I guess is not good but I would want to hear your opinion. The weather is getting better and I am thinking in commuting by bike to work, not ready for le tour de france yet...

Oh wow. Can't even imagine having an accident while riding a bike. In a car is bad enough.

much easier to hose off a bike than hose out a car
seems reasonable to me - you just don't want to add stress to an already stressed body - take it easy and I would think you'll be fine -

I don't think there is any problem with biking. I personally wouldn't want to bike while flaring because I am so tired, and plus, things can be so unpredictable but if you feel up to it, I don't think it would be a problem as far as healing goes. It's not like the seat is inside your anus.

I don't think there's a problem with it as long as you feel you're up to it. Is your flare really bad at the moment? How long of a bike ride would it be? Why don't you try cycling the same amount of time on the weekend or something and see how you feel afterwards? Sometimes strenuous exercise can be hard when a person is flaring badly, but I know that exercise always makes me feel a lot better. Though my exercising mainly consists of walking dogs and yoga.

Go for it. I've been biking for a while with UC(distal at time) without negative consequences. Maybe start slow and build up duration and intensity. Wear chamois. Acts as a diaper :).

Firelord, ever use Canasa? Saved my life from proctitis for 10 years now, remission, but not from UC.
soy stud...killin' me.....
However, I have noticed...and someone tell me if they have ever noticed this....that some form of things, whether it be a hobby or physical exertion...sometimes your mind is taken OFF the thing at hand, like having to go to the bathroom....
Ever notice that if you are really into something or exerting yourself you don't have to go? That mental block stops everything?

when i'm not flaring, i love riding my bike. i used to commute to work on it (only 1 mile there and 1 mile back).
during flares, you couldn't pay me. the last thing i need is a small triangular seat up my bleeding, hemmie infested crack.

Thanks a lot for replying, I think I'm going to try. I've got less than 4 miles commute (8 miles counting both ways) and I feel that I have enough energy for that ride. I have mucus and bleeding but these symptoms do not want to go so I will might as well start doing more exercise.
Scott, I live in Spain, and here Canasa doesn't exist but there is an identical mesalazine supp of 500mg. Never seen here a 1000 mg version that I think Canasa has.
