OT: Pain under left rib cage

I've been looking for possibilities of what this can be online and haven't found a lick of good information. The only symptom I have is a dull/sharp pain depending on if I move wrong/lay wrong underneath the left side of my ribs. At first I thought it was inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs, because I had that on my right back portion of my rib cage but it seems like that pain is inside.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, no. I was thinking it might be an early appearance of fatty liver disease? Apparently you can get it when you take too much iron ...

how long have you been experiencing this pain ?

are you taking a lot of iron ?

How long has it been going on? I only ask because I had weird pain that I thought was a pulled intercostal muscle or something, but it was the first sign of shingles. I had the pain for a few days before the rash showed up.

I thought fatty liver would hurt on the right side more than the left? For what it's worth, I had fatty liver for awhile (I was getting IV fed 1500 calories a day) and I had no pain. It's relatively easy to test for.

soy, for about a week but no more than two weeks. i'm was taking max dose of yellow doct extract (60 drops 3x day) and spirulina 500mg 3x a day. I also thought I slept wrong because my muscle is sore in my right arm.. *shrugs*

ActiveUCer, this has been only going on for a week or two max. I had a brain fart moment, yes, the liver is on the right not left, lol. No rash for me though.

I was having that really bad for about 2 months and it just recently started to die down (the pain that is). I still get it if I eat a huge meal. Part of me thought maybe it was from indigestion, or it was just from inflammation calming down. I did mention it to my doctor during my 3 follow up visits after hospitalization and he seemed to be not concerned about the pain. Now it only hurts mostly if I push on it or theres some sort of pressure around that area (like a tight sports bra).

Ah, thank you. That would make sense. It sucks though. Sleep wrong, it will hurt. Move wrong or too sharply, it will hurt. Blah.

yeah, I have a redundant section of my colon that extends up in that area... so sometimes I get pain there and its actually colon related.

I had exactly the same sort of pain etc. The doctor did every test under the sun
Liver test
Gallblader test
Kidney test

Turns out the pains were from a bad flare at that time which was only detected when they did a colonoscopy.

yup, it sounds like typical uc pain - should resolve itself soon -
