Thanks All. Really great feedback. Looks like the plantain flour is a No-No for now. I had actually tried it some time back and it went well for me at that time (that was the only time I didn't have any major problems). Other than some gas, it was fairly well (and I lost 5 lb in about a week, which was actually good), but after I ran out of the pack, it took them 2.5 months to send me a new one after I ordered. So I was starting it again and this time my gut is not in the mood... Oh well..... I will switch to potato starch and may be at some point try green bananas.
PoignantGuardian, yes I am using barry's farm plantain flour. Thanks for the tip. If they are actually using ripe plantains, then it's nut much of use as RS, regardless of whether mu gut can handle it or not... I'll just stay away.
The only negative review of the product indicated it tasted like bananas, but only after purchasing and trying it for myself did I find out they used ripe plantains, which tastes pretty darn similar to ripe bananas. If it has a sweet texture, then you know it's ripe.
As far as I know, there's only one company in the world that sells unripe banana flour and that's WEDO. They started selling on
amazon recently. I had better luck with that, though you'd have to experiment and see if it works out for you.
