Daylight Lamps? Has anyone tired these?

Came across a few at Bad, Bath and Beyond and was wondering if anyone tried these with success? I know nothing about them other than I seem to thrive in the sunshine and during the winter not so much.

Seemed like an intriguing idea for cloudy days and indoors during this extra long winter but was wondering if they were just a waste of cash...

ya, they need a companion mood meter that they sell with the light thingy -

I have one, haven't used it much this year, but last year we had a couple long spells of overcast/inversion days and my seat of the pants evaluation was positive -

the way I see it, it wasn't that expensive, cheap to operate, and only takes up about 4 sq. inches on my desk - so why not -

even if it's just a placebo, that's enough for me as long as it gives results -

given the dangerous lack of sunlight we've been getting in the north-eastern hemisphere, i would love to get one of these. i wonder if there are any double blinded studies showing vit d increases.

Hmm I'd be interested in that as well if anyone digs something up. Good or bad. I like Soy's take on it though to... I'm sure I've spent $100 on far more useless stuff. Maybe I'll grab one sometime this week, plop it on my desk and report how it goes.

A really quick search mentioned white light was the most important.. but again I have zero clue on this.

I have full-spectrum lighting in my home office. I've found it helps prevent eyestrain when I spend hours looking at my monitor. Don't know if it helps my mood, or if I'm just happier because I no longer have to get up and go to work.

We have a lot of can light fixtures in our home and over the past 25 years we've tried to find the best light bulbs for them, some lasted mere hours, then my husband hit upon fluorescent light bulbs. A good option, pricey but they lasted for months. Not hours.

Then one day he came home with daylight can light bulbs.

It was as if I hadn't been able to see before. Everything was so bright, in the evening!

I told him, don't you buy anything unless it says daylight on the package.

But now, he wants LED can light bulbs because they'll last for years. Just when I found my favorite light bulb out of the bunch too. Sigh......

Long story short - daylight light bulbs are GREAT!

Yes, I have a 10000 lux daylight lamp that I used to reset my body clock and sleep pattern by switching it on and facing it first thing in the morning when I woke up. Light acts on the pineal gland.

Then I had high dose steroids for a few weeks and when I came off them my body clock was all over the place (cortisol problems I suppose). So back to using the daylight lamp.

I have the Philips goLITE...It seems to work when I use it more often...especially during cloudy weather.

Since I'm not in the best place emotionally at the moment, this post has prompted me to start using it again for a while.

I have been doing light therapy for just over a month now to address my SAD. I was taking 5-htp to address my SAD symptoms before but I wanted to get off of it to minimize long term use risks.

The Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp has been working out very well. The continued miserable weather hasn't gotten me down. I spend 30 minutes with it on in the morning while having breakfast and doing some reading.
