I am patient diagnosed with UC in 2009 (ulcers in the left side of colon, more towards rectum).
I have a regular normal diet all the time, except during 3-4 months during my flare, where I avoid milk products and eat easy to digest cooked food.
Yearly once, I was getting a very bad flare (14-15 times bm with stomach ache, bloody stool and mucus) which had been controlled with the intake of steroids (prednisone) for 2 months and used enemas and suppository too. I have been on Asacol HD, Sulfasalazine and Lialda HD(taking at Present) tablets on daily basis.
When I had the flare in 2012, these things didn't work at all. Then the doctor put me in Remecade infusion (biological medicines) in every 8 weeks. It did work for the last 1 1/2 years. But again I started getting the symptoms of flare 3 weeks before(March 12- 2014). Doctor asked me to use the Mesalamine enema at bed time.
I could see only a slight change in my symptoms.
Meanwhile my Dad, who heard about urine therapy, which is very effective for many diseases including cancer, intestinal diseases, acne and fertility problems, he forced me to try the intake of midstream first urine in the morning(urine therapy). At first I was little reluctant to do it, but I when I think about the physical and mental sufferings during the flare and after effects of steroids, I made up my mind and slowly determined to try it.
I started sipping up of one-two ounce first (mid stream) urine in the early morning on empty stomach (started 16 days before). I could see a very fast response that is the uncomfirtability (bloating etc) in my stomach has reduced and after 2-3 days the blood in my stool has reduced a bit. I started the intake of mid stream urine little more - 1/2 glass- 1 glass, two- three times daily (must be fresh mid stream urine, early morning, mid day and night and must be 1 hour gap of food before and after the intake of urine. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily). Now within two weeks all my symptoms had gone, I am back to normal. I took the enemas for 10 days only, then taking the canasa suppository once daily and planning to stop after 7 days.
I am continuing the urine therapy and it says minimum 6 months needed for the complete recovery of the colon.
I recomment to read the online articles about urine therapy and read the book of Martha M.Christy "Your Own Perfect Medicine: The Incredible Proven Natural Miracle Cure that Medical Science Has Never Revealed!."(can read one chapter in the amazon, unless you want to buy it. In that book she has referred the remission of ulcerative colitis and chrones)
Please note that I haven't seen any side effects of urine therapy till now. And planning to stop all the other medicines once my colon is back to normal (waiting for the colonoscopy within 1 year).
I hope it works well for all who want to try this!!!!

I know that urine is sterile and all that jazz, and I'd probably drink my urine if it was a matter of life and death (as in, I know some people have drank their urine in order to survive, when they were stranded and such).

However, I can say I'd much rather have a colectomy than drink my urine every day.

It's great it's working for you, though.

It's true that urine contains traces of drug you intake. But once you consume it, it's filtering out again by the liver. So may be in next time you urinate, you are passing it out. And I believe, If you are well hydrated and drinking self fresh urine 2-3 times daily it won't make any harm to you.
If you are brave enough, you can stop all the medicines (I am sure that mesalamine tablets has no much healing effect on a moderate-severe long term UC) and try urine therapy atleast for a month or two to see how it works. But I am on Remecade on every 8 weeks, that's not possible for me to stop now. I am planning it after some months, once I see that my colon has completely recovered.
I don't think it's a placebo effect either!!!!
I am not sure what miracle in it and how long it will control UC, but I am expecting something good will happen, so I think it's worth trying if one has failed with all the drugs, and it makes no harm!!!
There are so many articles available to read online to clear any doubts about this effort!!!!
Only thing I came across is that there is no uniformity in the amount of consumption(how much, quantity) and how many no. of times(dose) we have to do. That we have to streamline or find ourselves, it differs by person.

Maybe it worth asking around on Fetlife - the BDSM and Fetish website, lol... see if anyone on there ummmm "into" this sorta thing on a regular basis also happened to spontaneously recover from UC or Crohn's... ya never know. Haha

Though I don't think I could bring myself around to try this one... but I'll admit to being curious of any other have gave this a go, haha.

I guess there's three ways of looking at it... 1) It worked/works, 2) Placebo, 3) Extra meds via urine - i.e. akin to dramatically increasing (or even recycling) your Remicade dose (on a daily basis actually). Would be interesting to see what happens once you formally stop Remicade, unless you already have.

Infliximab is not secreted in urine, and even if it were, drinking infliximab is not an effective way to take the drug.

I've always said I'd stick a red hot poker up my ass if I knew it would cure me. I guess the same goes for drinking my own urine.

I want to believe, but I'm going to have to see a LOT of data first. Haha.

Let's encourage people to drink their pee, go off their meds and go into remission.

Yup, I've heard it all. I need a bloody drink, and NO, not that kind of drink. I'd rather rip my colon out by my own hands...

I would do it if I thought it would help. I would have to see a few positive studies first though.... Maybe by then someone can package it in large capsules that we could swallow without having to taste it.

anamika: This thread seemed weird enough that I checked your posting history. Back in April 2009 you posted the following questionable thread regarding Ayurvedic being a cure and being reprimanded for posting spam. Now you want us to drink our urine for a cure, saying your dad forced you to drink yours. I'm sorry but all of this doesn't make you very credible.

I am waiting for my GI doctor's appointment after 2 days and will get the blood work report by then and can know whether the remecade has developed the antibody or is running low etc ( I am on it from the last 1 1/2 years).
I heard about urine therapy(UT) few months before while watching a TV show about UT wherein one person with UC was saying (among people with other diseases)that he has completely recovered, after the failure in allopathic treatment for 20 years. I didn't believe then and I thought it's only one person claiming it and no big data available to believe. Moreover I was doing fine then to try something new.
All these turn around came in few weeks before when I started seeing the flare syptoms back and then my dad collected so many data about UT. I read many articles about it too.
I am closing my nose with my other hand while drinking it slowly so that I am not tasting anything bad, just feeling salty and I rinse the mouth thoroughly before I open my nose. I never felt kind of throwing up or no negative response. If you drink more water it tastes more like water, less salty.

I tried all the ayurvedic medicines from one of the famous place in India( 1 year) and then tried the homeopathic medicines ( 1 year). It doesn't work at all.
I came across UT(Urine Therapy) recently and I could see a very fast response (kind of the response while we take the steroids), that's why I posted it in here, thought of if atleast one person can benefit of it, it's my blessing!!!
Note: I am eating good healthy food i.e 2-3 fruits (apple, orang, pine apple, banana) and veggies, non veg very less and drinking plenty of water.
I am not sure how long it will last or anything about it. I just post the update till today. I am not forcing anyone to do it, just sharing a way of hope!!!!

Please, read about urine therapy at first, before you jump into conclusion, and will get the answer for the earlier post saying "So it's your opinion that eating stool is also "not gross"?"

UT isn't as bad as people make it seem. What happens is, when you drink your urine, since you DNA is in it, your body retakes it in, processes it. Meaning it notices it's errors in the system such as UC, cancer, etc and works on fixing them.

My fiance wanted me to try this but I couldn't muster it.

Let's just be happy for anamika that he (she?) found something that is working. This is not something that most people will try (personally I would not) but to each their own. Is it any different than someone doing FT?? Granted we are not swallowing it but essentially it's the same...so do not patronize anamika nor make fun or I will lock this thread down.

People swallow parasitic whipworm ova (under doctor supervision) in an attempt to treat their IBD with quite impressive success. This isn't any more strange or distasteful than that, IMO.

Oh man, I would totally do this if it truly worked!! Maybe one day when I'm brave enough I'll try but at the moment I seem to be on my way to remission with what I'm doing. I wish you the best of luck and please update us with how you are doing!

I don't have really any formal biology background but the whole your DNA is in your urine and your body analyzes it seems spurious to me. First is your DNA actually in your liquid was you urinate out??? Doesn't seem like it but again I don't know. Then, how does your body analyze it as it is reintroduced through your GI tract...


Seems you'd have a better chance of reintroducing your DNA by cutting a flap of skin off and eating it (autocannibal?)

I've been thinking about the weirdest thing in regards to this all day... Perhaps Old Mike or someone else might do some digging just out of sheer curiosity. First, I'm not sure if the post is a scam or questionable or not. All kinds of crazy things have been posted here, and OM likes to remind us o the "Poop shake" drinking guy now and then, haha.

But here's my thoughts off the top of my head today on why it may be worth doing some digging:

1) I highly doubt DNA recognition and repair has the slightest thing to do with anything other than sheer nut job science.

2) I'm not 100% convinced that we don't excrete some portion of Remicade (Infliximab) via urine. I believe (but not 100% certain) that Remicade is a IgG type antibody - so a protein complex. I do however know that these (IgG Antibodies) are typically thought (though no one is actually certain) that they are cleared intracellularly - so Remicade is broken down this way into smaller molecules. A portion may however escape into urine, or some of the broken down portions might be a more correct statement as I think the IgG protein complexes would be large and get caught up in the filter so to speak. However, if any broken down small molecules are actually somehow secreted are still active in any way or not upon further ingestion would be interesting - but doubtful perhaps.

Anyway - What I was thinking about today was that I swear in one of my texts it said we have a lot of IgA and other antibodies in our Urine.

So what got me thinking and intrigued today in regards to drinking pee was that in many of the most recent papers on the defects of our mucus barrier in IBD - one of the most referenced is the lack of IgA antibody secretion. And this just got me curious if perhaps drinking the "antibodies" would be a way of attacking from the outside in. So replace what's missing type thing. And this in turn just brought up some other thoughts on perhaps a less disgusting way to do this than drinking pee.

For the life of me I cannot find the section of my text that stated Urine had IgA complexes in it. But I'll keep looking as perhaps I misread it. I recall that secretion of IgA into bile is the primary route of IgA elimination. So this is kind of interesting from this aspect.

In any case it made for some interesting thoughts... I'm still not drinking my pee, but if one were to look into it, a case could perhaps be made.......

Just update. Someone in the earlier post had doubt about whether this is a spam post. Of course not.
I am continuing my urine therapy. No side effects yet.
I am back to normal. Eating normal healthy food and drinking plenty of water.
Reduced Lialda HD 4 tabs to 2. Continuing the remecade infusion every 8 weeks as it has not developed the antibody and the dose level in the blood remains stable (blood work report came). I am waiting for the next colonoscopy in the end of this year or early next year. Then if my colon is back to normal, I would like to stop the remecade too. Hope it works!!!
I will post the message, if I see any symptoms of flare again!!!!!
