OT - painful pelvic ultrasound! Question for the ladies...

Yesterday I went in for a pelvic and trans-vaginal ultrasound. I've had so many of these things that I lost track but I have never had one hurt as bad as the one I had yesterday! I went in for a suspected right ovarian cyst and when she had the wand on the right side, it didn't hurt until she pressed down on my upper right side...I had a sharp shooting pain in my ovary. Then she moved the wand to the left side, I about flipped off the table...omgoodness did that hurt! And I don't know why. Sharp shooting pains and intense cramping.

All last night, I was in pain. Cramping and sharp shooting pains especially on the right. I'm a bit better this morning, I still have that annoying ache on the right but at least it doesn't feel like I have an evil dwarf in there twirling an egg beater.

Has anyone else had a painful pelvic ultrasound like this? I don't know if the tech was more aggressive than normal or if something is happening on my left as well.

Yeah, I will bring it up with my doc when I see her. I have a follow up appt with her but I'm sure if anything serious is wrong she will call me in earlier.

The tech kept asking me if I had an IUD because there was a band of white tissue across my uterus. But she looked at my past report and said that it's probably just scar tissue from my endometrial ablation. I wonder tho if perhaps that is what caused me so much discomfort.

Every transvaginal US is excruciating for me. With or without cysts. I usually cramp extra bad for a couple days after. Sorry. I hate U/S

I have so many abdominal adhesions from years of inflammation and uterine/fallopian. etc is effected. Most of my surgeries have been for that, removing the scar tissue.

Gads, I'm so sorry that pelvic u/s turned painful for you!!!!! How did the trans-v go? From what I've been told the trans-v is harder to tolerate as one gets older because the mucosa there thins, and it did hurt me like a sharp knife blade during 2 recent tests, yowie! But that might also apply in your case to the pelvic since your ablation, which may have led to thinner uterine walls. (?) It annoys me no end that gynos foist these procedures on us with minimal explanation of what we might encounter farther down the road. I hope your cramping has gone away by now. They said endo many years ago, but then it mysteriously disappeared in my 20s. After they sent me into 2 years of premature menopause with depo lupron that just increased the pain I used herbs to get my cycles to return and cure my pelvic pain. I figured 3 laps was enough. They also tied my right ovary to my stomach wall during those surgeries as it kept torsing due to the weight of the cysts.

I've had vaginal pain from ovarian cysts before. NOT FUN.

Im fine now. I havent had any issues with cysts or endo, etc since before doing a detox and an herbal hormonal reset/ support. My problems were when I took the birthcontrol the docs recced and the nsaids for the pain.

Id like one more baby. I just want to be completely well for one entire year.

My mother had one this summer and she was in pain for days (she is in her late 60's). She ended up needing a D&C as well but she said the ultrasound was by far more painful.

I have an ovarian cyst. They monitor every six months. Last ultrasound hurt like heck. I just knew they were going to say it grew. Actually they ended up saying it had shrunk. But I have had at least five and never hurt before. It hurt for a few days after. The pain was awful.
