tummy pain after food

so this forum has became my go to place when i have medical question that no doctor can help me with, i am so amazed at how much you guys know.
my 4 year old son is in trouble again every time he eats anything he has a tummy pains right in the middle for a few minutes and then it goes away. he doesn't have diarrhea, well nothing really but pain. some times he has to stop and lye down in pain. i've tried giving him different types of food, omitted dairy, gluten, sugar but he is still in pain. anyone has any ideas what could it be ?

I'm sorry your son is only 4 and in so much pain. It is hard to figure out what is wrong with small children as they can not communicate it to you.

Could he be constipated?

Does he have any other symptoms?
Fever, vomiting?
When he does use his bowels do you notice blood or mucos?

It may seem like I'm asking a lot of questions but it may give us more of an idea?

thanks for the response Sheree, it's hard to see him in pain but it only lasts few minutes at a time, he doesn't have any other symptoms, not constipated or has mucus or blood thank god for that, i thought he may be not chewing food properly or swallows air don't know but hope it's just a stage and the pain will stop soon

My older son has had this happen and it is caused by two things. For starters, he has reflux and can only eat is small amounts throughout the day. If he eats too quickly or a lot of rich foods he wil get a lot of pain and will often throw up. When he was 4 we out him on PPI for 6 months and that helped a lot. He also gets those pains when he is constipated. He also gets gas from some foods, you could try some infant gas drops but I would call his pedi and let them know.
I worry about my son developing IBD a lot given his history but we have never really had issues with stool other than constipation from time to time.

Thanks momto2boys, i think you are right that he eats too quickly, and since he loves cheese and smoked salmon it's too rich for him, he doesn't have constipation very often so i might exclude those and see if it will work
